Dark chestnut with nice head. Aroma of brown sugar and caramel. Sweet throughout without the hops to balance this sweet beast out.

2.4 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 9/20
Bottle. Yikes this one is essentially an alcohol bomb, maybe one should call it alcohol forward. Body is fairly thin. Aromas as well as flavors are dominated by the strong alcohol and not much else. In addition this beer is cloyingly sweet. There is not much else to say, the alcohol masks anything else that might be going on.

2.7 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 9/20
12 oz bottle VIA Malt of The Earth Beer Club. This one pours a semi-clear amber with a very small white head. Nose is quite grainy with some caramel and berries. Taste starts very sweet, some caramel and ends with some roasted malts. In between there is lots of sugar and breadiness, as well as some earthy hops. Body is medium and carbonation is way high, which makes it difficult to discern the flavors. There does seem to be some munich malt amongst the harshness of the aftertaste.

3.5 AROMA 3/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
Light amber colored "porter" pivo with 9% alcoh. Doesn’t taste like a traditional english porter but is smooth, malty and easy to drink for such a high gravity beer.

1.6 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 3/10 PALATE 1/5 OVERALL 5/20
Bottle, at Kookfest, September 2006. Sweet and sickly with burning alcohol. I didn’t really pick up anything else at all. OK for getting blasted quick I suppose. More than a little of the Tennents Super, or other cheap wino lagers about it. Very crude and unimpressive.

1.3 AROMA 3/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 2/10 PALATE 1/5 OVERALL 4/20
Bottle. Yipes, very sweet and alcoholic. Gold/amber colour. Aroma shows some plummy fruit and alcohol. MOuthfeel is very raw, with alcohol very evident. Sweet sticky fruit flavour, with some sugary notes. Very rough and pretty much undrinkable.

2.3 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 9/20
Bottle @ Kookfest. Strong sweetish malt and moderate alcohol. Despite not normally liking beers with lots of apparent alcohol or that are too sweet I found this quite enjoyable, although I wouldnt finish a whole bottle.

Kook’s Farewell Soiree. Strong lager. Tastes huge and crude. Sweet malt with nothing to balance.
