In short: A refreshing fruity stout. Nice session beer
How: Bottle 500ml at Die Stube, Brasov, Romania
The look: Near black body topped by a small tan head
In long: Nose has roast, raisins and also notes of fresh fruits. Taste is roasted, fudge, dried black cake, raisins, a bit chalky, fresh tobacco, juicy tropical fruits. For a roasted stout there was a surprising refreshing fruitiness in this beer that I really enjoyed. By nature most stouts cannot really be qualified as ‘refreshing’, but this one really was. I enjoyed this beer and many others on a nice after-noon with my wife, she likes that I desire her more and more with every beer I drink but unfortunately for her never as much as another beer.

0,5l bottle from Csakajósör, Budapest. Clear dark brown color with beige creamy head. Nice aroma, caramel, coffee, some chocolate. A bit sour malty aroma. MEdium sour taste. Medium body with soft carbonation and sticky texture. Long bitter-sour finish. Not the best one, but it’s a nice delicious stout.

Black without a head. Roasted malts, coffee dry earthy. A bit simple, not what I was looking for. Specially the aftertaste is less good.

Palme (3603) - Bergen, NORWAY - DEC 6, 2011
0.5l bottle from Centra Colosseum, Oslo shared with The Tasting Crew. This one pours a really dark - near black - body with a small bubbly and sidesticking khaki head. The aroma is light both roasted, sweet and chocolaty. Also some cold coffee and hints of wood burned actually. Average carbonated with a thin oily mouthfeel. Nice flavors. Roasted, light chocolate, cold coffee and both licorice and hoppy hints in the finish. Lasting roasted aftertaste. A bit thin perhaps, but I quite liked this one.

God - men litt ensformig. KI=6 (Centra, Majorstua, Oslo).

Bottle from Centra Colosseum, Oslo, shared with BBGTC. Pours a pitch black body with a small, off-white retention. Aroma is milk chocolate, hints of coffee and licorice. Taste is chocolate, roasty malts and hints of licorice again. Pretty tasty for its genre I suppose, but I do scowl a little when reading the back label where artificial preservatives and stuff is among the ingredients. I’m not a purist, but I still like my beer to avoid added chemicals as much as possible.

Countbeer (5316) - Best of E-Town mit 2 Brauhausen, NETHERLANDS - NOV 13, 2011
Bottle: Small but vast light brown head/thick lacing on top of a black beer. Smell coffee and roasted malts. Smells like a good stout. Smell is better than  taste. Taste is very watery, just taste some light coffee, roaster malts and herbs. Light light light bitter coffee ish aftertaste Low to almost no carbo, soft watery mouthfeel, low to medium body and a watery texture.

500ml bottle, 4.7% abv., shared with Finn, carried back home from Centra Colosseum in Oslo. Good looking with its low, tan-coloured head, spotty lace and deep rosewood coloured body. Slightly roasted aroma of cocoa powder and dark chocolate. Sweet flavour of milk chocolate along with cold coffee. Mid-sweet ending. Smooth. Some good drinking in this one (Tromsø, 13.10.2011).

UPDATED: MAY 11, 2015 This brewer is infamous for failing to provide a constant quality of his brews. At times this stout is mediocre, at other times it tastes really great. The best batches are those where a gentle creaminess enriches its dark chocolatey taste. You might sometimes come across one of those. First rating: Bottle. Almost black with a thick and frothy head - they got rid of the handicap because not so far ago it was almost impossible to create any head out of this beer. Aroma is very intense freshly ground coffee and dark chocolate, plus some liquorice, vanilla, hops and coconut milk. Taste is very high on roastiness, a liquorice-infused coffee-dark chocolate onslaught leading to a quite intense roasted-hoppy bitterness with an aftertaste of earthy grass and coconut milk. A full bodied, very dry stout. This is one tasty beer!
