Bottle. Almost black with a thick and frothy head - they got rid of the handicap because not so far ago it was almost impossible to create any head out of this beer. Aroma is very intense freshly ground coffee and dark chocolate, plus some liquorice, vanilla, hops and coconut milk. Taste is very high on roastiness, a liquorice-infused coffee-dark chocolate onslaught leading to a quite intense roasted-hoppy bitterness with an aftertaste of earthy grass and coconut milk. A full bodied, very dry stout. This is one tasty beer!

UPDATED: MAY 25, 2012 Love this stout. More complex over the known. Great head when served on the warm side and such character on the taste and palate. All said... roasted coffee, little wooden oak, dry fruits of plum. nice adjusted bitterness that tastes quality from czech. Drinkable is just right if you want at least 2. Not heavy at all.

Tiefschwarz mit cremigem Schaum langer Standzeit. Röst- und Kaffearomen mit süßlicher Kaffeesahne. Mittlerer Körper, für 4,8% erstaunlich vollmundig. Der Kaffee- besiegt den Röstmalzgeschmack. Mittellang nachklingender Abgang. Sehr süffig und fast perfekt ausgewogen im Geschmack. Superb!

Love the four leaf clover on the lid! So difficult to rouse I honestly thought this was still on the pour. It settles with an almost naturally cask conditioned head, a flaccid, short tannish island, very fine bubbles arise to it. The body a deepest, darkest, brownish black. Ashen, dusty, chocolate, mocha nose, simple yet alluring. So soft, smooth, creamy and full in the mouth, are these guys taking the piss! Smoky, delicate, good earthiness, light peat with overtones of milk chocolate and burnt, bitter sugars, yum! Long, long finish is all malt and smoke, nicely bitter just on the swallow, again some heavily roasted cacao beans, maybe a little coffee bean too. This is just heaven for a session stout. I’ll have to get another bottle of this to compare as it just feels so good in the mouth. I think these guys nailed a Dry Stout word for word. It’s presence in the mouth is wonderful, its flavour just holds so long. I love it! (50cL, BB 10/03/11, The Beer Store Morley)

on tap at the christmas beer markets in prague and then a few more glasses of it at the newsagent/pub by hellichova street, near the beer fest. pitch black, minimal but lasting beige head. lightly smoky aroma with plenty of cocoa powder, plenty of coffee, whipped cream and crushed nuts and a quick dry finish. having found their pale ale earnestly dull, i was very impressed at just how much character this beer had - some licorice and lactic sourness lingered in the aftertaste. hope to see this in plzen one day
