COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
This is Royal Barvarian Hefeweizen. Why are the Bavarian Royal Family and King Ludwig so important to brewing history? The Bavarian Royal Family had sole rights to brewing Hefe-Weizen on Bavaria for over 200 years. No wonder we are the leading experts on wheat beers!

UPDATED: AUG 25, 2011 Pleasant but in general an uninspiring hefeweizen. +++Sampled from a 12 oz brown bottle. Label says Konig Ludwig Weiss. Pours a light amber color with some floaters and a medium sized white head. The scent is wheaty and yeasty. The flavor is slightly sour wheat. A light toasted flavor lingers. There is a slightly "off" taste I can not identify.

Tested as Konig Ludwig (alias)Light gold in color (straw), nice head,Aroma= nice smooth esters/ soft banana prevails. Palate = medium lt. Good carbonation. A well balanced weissbeir! yeast does not over drive this beer. I would buy it again. Cheers

bluevegie (3053) - Perth, AUSTRALIA - APR 18, 2004
Hazy pale straw colour with a large mostly lasting white head. Banana and cloves feature mainly in the aroma. Not heaps of flavour but some spice upfront then some soft banana and vanilla finishing with a little coriander and hints of orange peel. Medium body and a creamy texture. Enjoyable german hefeweizen.

UPDATED: SEP 28, 2005 Yet another rating on this one. The body is a dark a cloudy gold. It has a decent white head. The aroma is subtle pear and banana with a hint of clove. The taste is bubblegum and some light clove. There is also a some banana peel. A decent hefe.

A decent Heffe. Notes of bananna and fruit on a golden hazy body witha white smallish head. Yeasty aroma. Initial sweetness with a crisp and dryer finish. Enjoyable if not spectacular.

OlJuntan64 (1265) - Perth, AUSTRALIA - APR 10, 2004
Medium hazy honey with a smaller than expected lasting snowy white head. Faint metallic and plastic wafts through stronger stale sourdough. Medium light body for a German wheat. No use by date - I suspect this is far from fresh. Medium light stale bitter hops, medium light grapefruit zest sour, lightly sweet with hint of banana. Soft moderately bitter finish.

dmit I bumped my numbers up a bit as I am presuming that this was a tad old (clue: ON SALE). Wasn't the least bit bad at all, just somewhat lacking in certain factors. And I do think that weissbiers tend to be much better fresh. It was rather well appreciated though as I consumed directly outside the store on a beautiful day as I was getting impatient for the rest of my party to finish shopping.

Mainstream weissbier, was a negativ surprice. Not because it is a bad weissbier, but because it was not better.

Cloudy bronze with a big, long lasting foamy head. This weiss is pretty light on for everything. There is slight aroma flavour and finish of coriander and citrus. More intensity required.
