This is Royal Barvarian Hefeweizen. Why are the Bavarian Royal Family and King Ludwig so important to brewing history? The Bavarian Royal Family had sole rights to brewing Hefe-Weizen on Bavaria for over 200 years. No wonder we are the leading experts on wheat beers!

(Review stolen from Marsiblursi because I agree with it perfectly) Pours hazy yellow golden with a creamy head. The aroma is of doughy white bread, lots of banana esters, light clove, light pepper, wheat and flowers. The flavour is light sweet and light bitter with a fantastic crisp and full carbonation. Tones of wheat, dough, light grass/flowers, light clove, light banana. The mouthfeel is round and smooth. Tiny acidic and dry finish. Medium bodied.

From a bottle at Epcot. Pours hazy gold with a creamy off-white head. Tastes like banana, wheat, cookie malt, dried fruits, and some bubblegum. Light/medium body and low carbonation. Smells like banana, wheat, citrus fruits, and bubblegum.

Konig Ludwig Weissbier was one of those shot-in-the-dark purchases just for fun. You know, I’ve done a lot worse with that tactic. Konig Ludwig pours cloudy yellow-gold. A moderate two-finger head. Fruity and bready smells from the glass. Lots of sweetness in the flavor. Banana, bubblegum, starchy grains, and a bit of vanilla. The texture is light-bodied, lively, and creamy. Clean finish. Very easy to drink, especially on hot-ass day.

I do not wax on poetically about beer but I do know the quality of a beer once tasted. This review is not about my tastes but reinforces the numbers, which are arbitrary.

11.2 oz bottle pours a hazy golden color with a small white head that leaves some lacing. Aroma has bananas, wheat, light spices and yeast. Taste is slightly sweet with dry, crisp finish. Body is light to medium with lively carbonation and a crisp mouthfeel. Simple yet true to the style. This fit the bill exactly when I was looking for a German Hefeweizen I hadn’t tried yet.

As usual, a classic style of German weissbeer with the classic aromas. This beer however has a wonderful crisp lager finish which works very well with the flavours that are not too light nor overpowering. The balance of this beer is good and great if you’re not a fan of huge aromas and flavours.
