Bitto Honey IPA was born as a gift to be enjoyed at a going away party for two friends, Don and Maddie Bitto - two new doctors from Philadelphia who were headed to Denver for their first jobs as practicing physicians. Bitto Honey is a twist on the ever popular India Pale Ale and has been brewed with fresh honey and a heavy dose of honey malt to provide great balance to the Amarillo and Cascade hops. We believe that Hops + Honey = Heaven. Don and Maddie agreed and we hope you will too.

12oz bottle. Hazy amber body with lots of floaties enough to bring it down to a 2 in appearance. Steady, creamy off-white head. Doesnít smell that appealing, kind of a 90s brewpub APA thing going, earthy. The concept is cool, but the end result is not so impressive. The hops are more dominating than the honey, which plays second fiddle here.

Tap, amber pour, white head, nose is lacking, taste is some honey, but really mild.

From bottle, deep ruby amber color with almost no head. Aroma is almost all honey. Taste is very sweet with light bittering. Long finish with alternating sweet/bitter - interesting. Full bodied with oily texture. Almost no carbonation, but I donít think it needs it. Not what Iíd usually go for, but Iím impressed.

Bottle into an ale glass. Pour is a dark amber with a lace head. Aroma is on the weak side. Taste is a very bitter pull, not a smoothly built beer. Finish is harsh, not what I would have looked for in an ipa. But better then most mass made swill.

Pours a hazy brown with large yeast particles in suspension. Aroma of sweet malt. Taste is sweet up front with a medium mouthfeel, and noticeable earthy hop taste tailing into maltiness and ending with a slightly rough astringency and little bitterness. Very odd IPA as hops are a small part of the show.

12 ounce bottle from a trade with jdb288. This is quite hazy and dark brown. Cool looking. A big darker beige head has good retention. I smell honey and clover with rich malts. No hops on the nose. The hops are tasted and they are classic west coast hops with a nice grapefruit profile. There is a bit of herbal and pine but the hops are generally citrus. This has a little something different and is a tasty IPA.

Bottled. Pours hazy amber with thin head. Overall drinkable beer, the honey is subdued, but so is the IPA taste.

Nitro at lucky lab. Pours hazy reddish with a large off white head. The aroma has a lot of citrus notes, light pine, and maybe some honey in the distance. The taste is medium bitter and very malty. Not too sweet but does have a honey caramel taste and is quite thick in palate.. Good.

Mild honey aroma, pours a cloudy reddish-brown with a large off-white head. Thereís a bit of honey in the flavor, with a lingering bitter finish. Medium bodied, not a bad little IPA.

Bottle. Nose is dank and earthy-herbal hops, pine-leaning with light malt and citrus, perhaps a touch of grain. Expecting it to be sweet. Dark chestnut with red highlights and a rocky tan head. Taste is strongly bitter, faint metal with some sour acid, though only a stroke. Juicy and citric but higher on resin and scratch, woody with floral and herbal notes that donít manage to establish themselves until some time has passed. Fullish body, seems like lemon and orange juice have been squirted in at times (zing zing) but even they are covered by the strong dank resin and dark caramel.
