Prohibition Lawless IPA ia an uncompromising, overly hopped, ale inspired by the 1920’s brews that sat in underground tunnels and rail-cars destined for dry countries. This IPA attacks your taste buds with a crisp and hoppy profile that was demanded in the blind pigs and speakeasies of days gone by. Prohibition’s complex, refreshing, honest flavors are craft brewed in small batches at a small unassuming brewery in British Columbia, Canada. Only the finest ingredients including pristine Canadian water and Cascade hops are used to deliver a beer so good you’d ask for it even if it was prohibited.

22 oz bottle from the Crowchild Co-op liquor store in Calgary, served in a stem glass. Pours clear orange-amber with a tiny head that fades quickly to a thin rim of bubbles. The nose has mostly grainy malts with a touch of hops. The flavour is a bit sweet with caramel and bready malts and just a touch of hops. The finish is short and mostly malty. On the palate, it is light-medium in body with a syrupy texture and virtually no carbonation. Overall, a disappointing "IPA" that seems to be missing the requisite hops. 2014-09-10

Poured from an oversize bottle. Minimal head and minimal carbonation. Nose is grain and malt. Flavour is flat and boring. This is no IPA!

Dark ruty colored pour, with a medium tan head. Aroma of caramel malts, brown sugar, burnt grass and super earthy, almost dirty hops. The finish is medium bitter, with an incredibly earthy hop finish with light sweet caramel notes. Not a very good ipa. Reminds me alot of what mill stret tankhouse has become.

Bomber - dark gold with a soapy head, some lacing, not really hoppy at all. Has a metallic taste and thin.

On tap at Prohibition, pours a clear copper with a medium beige head. Aroma is pretty sharp on the hops, with a bit of a medicinal quality. Flavour is quite hoppy and vibrant, with notes of pine and resin, fruitiness, and biscuity malt. Well-balanced and drinkable. Their best beer.

Slightly hazy deep orange with a big rocky tan head that leas a lot of lace. Pine and citrus with a good helping of honey and toffee on the nose. Sweet start with a lot of chewy cascade bitterness. Medium mouth and carbonation but finish is a bit watery and metallic. One dimensional

Golden amber. Aroma is slightly woody cascades, maybe a bit of chewy maltiness. Earthy front then limey, berryish character I would not normally associate with cascades. Bit light on the bitterness and the finish is a bit quick, but it isn’t bad.

UPDATED: MAR 30, 2014 pours topaz with a long lasting, fluffy white head. Aromas include grapefruit, oranges, and some pine and caramel sweetness. The nose is more appealing than the flavors. Not a whole lot going on. Nicely bitter but kind of watery mouthfeel. Just ok.

Rating #1022 - Must have missed this one, definitely got a sample bottle from the vendor rep. Pours a hazy copper orange with a fairly frothy head. spotty lacing. Aroma is honey, doughy malt and sweet sweet citrus, tangerine, lemon. Great sticky-bun malt character here, lots of sweetness tempered by this dry-hopped northwest style IPA, lots of sticky bitter notes in the finish. Nice.
