COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Scotch Ale is a traditional style strong pale ale like the brews that were imported from across the ocean during a time when getting a drink meant breaking the law. This dark, crisp scotch ale delivers just like those demanded in the blind pigs and speakeasy’s of days gone by. Prohibition’s complex, refreshing, honest flavors are craft brewed in small batches at a small unassuming brewery in British Columbia, Canada. Only the finest ingredients including pristine Canadian water, hops and malts are used to bring you a scotch ale so good you’d ask for it even if it was prohibited.

Aromaa is sweet malts, rich scotch dry malts, caramel. Taste is sweet malts with slight bitterness that is fairly well balanced. Appearance is a clear brown with a thin pearl head that retains fairly well.

Overly sweet, loads of burnt sugars, and deep burnt malt aromas. Light wood, some dark fruit. Man, is this sweet! No hops to speak of, just a mess of burnt, sugary, overly sweet malts. This was a drain pour.

On tap at Prohibition, pours a hay amber with a medium beige head. Aroma and flavour of bready caramel malts, light dark fruitiness, and toffee. Decent scotch - acceptable.

Bomber. Clear medium copper, tan foam mostly fades. Milder toasted caramel malt aroma and taste, not too sweet, light earthy herbal hoppage, no bitterness. Average carbonation, lighter bodied, low hopped. No peat, no scotch, no oaky vanilla, just a nice enough mild amber ale. LBW (Lagerboys Be Wary)

Lovely amber beer with an almost oaky finish. Great for an afternoon on a sunny patio. Pairs nicely with BBQ meat. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

UPDATED: MAY 10, 2014 Picked up in Penticton. Poured out a crazy thick tan head, solid lacing ad a dark brew - pretty much perfect. Some sweetness, light metallic taste, ok amount of roast, very mild pine, brain lacking ideas here. It’s just really good tasting. Weak review but who cares? This is a damn solid beer and I want much much more. Really enjoying this. Slight spice. All good. Creamy on every sip. Light choco / coconut nose. Totally enjoyable beer really liked it but a mellow version of a scotch ale. High looks and mouthfeel points. Not a 3.7 beer but what ya gonna do? Dolphins!

Draught at Prohibition Tasting Bar, Vancouver
Dark amber color, clean, with creamy persistent head. Light caramel aroma, very light fruity touch (5.5); another beer from Prohibition that would need a more accentuated aroma. Smooth and lean mouthfeel; caramel flavor with a toasted malt hint, but also traces of diacetyl; correct bitterness; mild sugars appear in the final, with some nuts and nice toasted note.
Easy, pleasant.

Pours a clear amber brown with a thin white fine head. Aromas are very faint, slight toasted maltiness and some herbal notes. It has a light taste with a slight Scotch afternote. Drinkable, but I’d prefer something different

Beautiful clear golden amber pour with huge frothy off white head. Aroma of malts, caramel and hops. Taste of roasted malts, caramel, slight hops. Medium bodied, medium carbonation. Pretty simple one dimensional beer that goes down really easy, nothing great but nothing offensive, solid beer.

650ml bottle. Pours deep Amber with a thick off white head with good lacing. Aromas strong caramel, a little floral. Taste of caramel, malt sweetness, toast, light Dark fruit plum. Finish has hop bitterness that lingers for a while and ends a little on the dry side.
