[cask at Holyrood 9A, Edinburgh] Deep raspberry red colour, with a thin off-white head. Big aroma of cardamom. Not much flavour upfront, but then the cardamom becomes quite prominent, particularly on the finish. There’s a tingle of chilli, but not too much. Quite enjoyed the earthy, spicy aftertaste – which is the only time the beetroot is noticeable [07112012]

Cask at Holyrood. Pale reddish brown, creamy head. Looks like a barleywine rather than porter. Big lavender, cardamom, light chocolate roast malts nose. Dry roast malts, juicy berry fruits, touch herbal, cardamom again, soft bitter roast finish. Ok.

Reddish copper brown, clear, frothy white head, good lacing
Aroma - caramel malts, medicinal, cinnamon(?), spicy, fruity malts
Taste as aroma, didn’t get the chilli
Palate - medium body, quite oily, bit sticky. Finish - bitter herbal, quite dry, bit medicinal, touch of cinnamon again, over bitter linger
Overall - OK bit seems overcramped with too much additional flavourings in it and has a rather bitterish linger - it did get somewhat better drinking more of it

Cask at the Birmingham Beer Festival 2012. Clear dark brown pour with a thin white head. When they said there were green chillies and cardamoms in this beer, they weren't joking! The aroma is all about dry spices. The flavour is very dry spicy and bitter. There isn't much on the palate and not much behind either! It's a spicy beer for those people that like spices! Plain and simple.
