4.2 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20 brentcusack (2) - Alberta, CANADA - APR 29, 2013 does not count
A hoppy start with a sweet finish. Nicely balanced Double IPA from Halifax, Nova Scotia. With an 8.2% content, this is a worthy opponent to the Garrison Unfiltered Imperial Pale Ale.

3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20 Ferris (490) - Edmonton, Alberta, CANADA - JAN 26, 2013
Bottle - Very sweet, much more than the hop bomb promised. Fruits and earthy hops are present, a bit spicy as well. A reasonably balanced IPA, which is not what is advertised. Still decent though, bitter with some pine.
3.6 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20 mathieuc (275) - Québec, Quebec, CANADA - OCT 8, 2012
A lot of caramel in the nose, hops are a little more muted than when I had that < 2 weeks old bottle in August. Still smells and looks nice with big bubbles and extreme lacing. Tastes a bit like a soft barley wine really now. Still has an hop bite but taste is mostly caramel and it is slightly warming. I can only recommend that you seek a fresh bottle of this but this one is still holding up nicely (better than expected in fact).
3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20 dudebun (104) - GERMANY - AUG 28, 2012
Bought the last bottle at the LC in Sydney River in early July 2012. Wasn’t totally blown away by it, but it was pretty good although I was expecting more. I guess I was hoping for more hop aroma... It was hoppy and bitter and malty and great but not double IPA hoppy enough on the nose for me. More on the nose would have been good. But it was fine. But not awesome. Decent. Would like to try it again. Maybe it was old, I didn’t check the best before date.
3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20 Spab (1639) - Toronto, Ontario, CANADA - AUG 8, 2012
500 ml bottle from Premier Wine and Spirits. Pours a clear amber colour with tiny off-white cap. Aroma is caramel, pine and citrus - all somewhat mellow. Flavour is rather strong piney hops, more subtle grapefruity hops, with a fairly sweet caramelly malt. Not too much alcohol flavour despite the over 8 ABV. Body verging on full. A nice, drinkable double IPA.
4.1 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20 rejtable (811) - Ontario, CANADA - MAY 30, 2012
Pours brown-amber with good head and lacing. Nose is a bit sweet with pine. Mouth has lots of hops and finish lots of lingering bitterness. Medium body.
4.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20 HeistAlmighty (813) - Saint John, New Brunswick, CANADA - MAY 23, 2012
500ml bottle. Aroma is lots of hops with pine, floral and grapefruit with a pink grapefruit sweetness behind it. Poured copper with a good sized sponge toffee head. Hazy, but a little more clear than I was expecting. Taste is dominated by piney, herbal and citrus hops with a little bit of earth and sweetness. Malt not particularly strong. Body was full and somewhat dry. Overall, I’d say it gives Garrison’s Imperial Pale some competition.
4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20 JoeMcPhee (7620) - Toronto, ON, Ontario, CANADA - MAY 13, 2012
Bottle courtesy of gethinbeer. Pale amber pour with a tight sticky white head. The aroma is rich and hoppy with notes of grapefruit and orange. Straightforward PNW hops over a lean pale malt base and a little bit of light crystal malt flavour (but sweetness is restrained). Lots of bright spicy hoppiness and a very assertive bitterness. Lots and lots of citrusy character. Very tasty brew.

500ml bottle. Pours a clear amber colour with a light pillowy head and moderate combination. Pleasant citrus aroma. Medium bitterness with a big hoppy bite. Dry finish. Not too boozy in spite of the 8+% content. Very pleased with this, and hope it’s around for the foreseeable future.
