COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Not for the faint of heart. True India Pale Ales had to withstand long sea voyages before slaking the thirst of cranky British troops stationed in the heat of India. Bracing, bitter, higher in alcohol. Trademark Propeller quality. A full-bodied ale for full-throttle beer lovers. Drink fresh.

UPDATED: NOV 1, 2008 From bottle. Rich fruity aroma, slight hoppy feel. Clear golden appearance with a thin frothy head. Rich fruity flavour, fresh feel. Tangy finish. I have to say the more I drink this IPA the more I like it. Its not really near my favourite, but its good. More flavoursome than the pale ale for sure.

9/05/2007: Propeller IPA is golden in color with a slight orange tnge to it. There is a frothly off-white head that leaves some thin lacing. A toffee maltiness mostly comes through in the aroma. There is a little sweet candy quality that is in the background. The flavor is malty and sweet light candy with citrusy tangerine hops. The bitterness is mild to moderate. The beer has a medium body and is quite flavorful, but not very much bitterness (a bit more for the style would have been welcomed). Overall it is still a solid, sessionable IPA.

650 ml bottle (6.5% alc./vol. / Production date: Month=May, Week=1) from porterhose via trade. Thanks Kevin! Shared with Tmoney99 at the Dilly Deli. Rating #49 for this beer...

Pours a clear copper-orange with a small head of soap suds. Smells of malty bread, grain, and big lemon hops. Mouthfeel is crisp and has just the right amount of carbonation. Taste is a bit molasses, some honey, grapefruit, unsweetened cocoa powder, and a good-sized hoppy bitter finish (not a hop-bomb, but good for an IPA as far as I’m concerned). The aftertaste is metallic, bitter, and lemon tang. A good IPA for light sessions. I was very impressed with it. I would most definitely pick this up again. Too bad I bought it in Nova Scotia... I can’t get it at home.

22 oz bottle. rich orange, gold with foamy white head (some lacing). aroma of oats and grass. flavor is malt, bitter hop, slight citrus tart, some pine. bitter is dominant but is well balanced and leaves room for subtle grass and citrus notes to come through. this is a great ipa. stands more on the dry, bitter hop than the floral and it works well. tight carb - nice palate. its nice to taste an ipa with a solid malt backbone and not overwhelmingly floral. the 6.5 seals the deal. solid beer for sure.

650ml bottle, bright golden color, with a frothy white head, sweet floral hop nose, with a mild leafy and grassy accent, with a faint citrus note, a subtle hop spiciness in the aroma follows through on a medium-bodied palate with a sweet pale malt, a mild hop piney character, with a faint juicy hop citrusy accent, with a light honeyish note, leading towards a sweet floral hop peachy fruitiness and a lingering leafy bittering finish.

Medium to dark gold in color. Mild aroma with only hints of dry hopping. Flavor was sweet and a bit weird - not sure what hops they use in this beer, but it was not a very good IPA compare to others out there. However, compared to Alexander Keith’s IPA from Halifax it’s a winner.

Orange-copper in colour, quickly dissipating off-white coloured head, no lacing. The aroma is of floral hops, light grapefruit, some caramel sweetness. The flavour is of light lemon and grapefruit, peppery, floral, moderate sweetness, a bit on the chemically side, grassy. Moderatly bitter mouthfeel, medium body, medium/high carbonation. Finishes peppery, bitter and lingering. This isn’t all that bad, the only downfall is that it is just a bit simple.

650ml bottle obtained in a trade with <a href=http://www.ratebeer.com/ViewUser.asp?U target=blank>OKBeer, thanks Bobby.
Opened on February 24, 2007.
Production date is the 1st week of February 2007.

Bottle Courtesy of Okbeer. Light unclear medium orange color with a small frothy good lacing mostly lasting off-white head. Aroma is moderate hoppy, grass, flowers, light yeasty, hay, caramel, toffee, fruity. Flavor is moderate sweet and bitter with a average to long duration. Body is medium, texture is oily, carbonation is soft.

Boutip (4701) - Gatineau, Quebec, CANADA - JUN 15, 2007
Bottle courtesy of Okbeer: Poured a dirty amber color ale with a nice white foamy head with good retention. Aroma of mild citrusy hops with a dry malt base. Taste of citrusy hops is lighter then expected with a malt base that is too dry and IMO would have profited from more caramel malt. Body is quite full with a low level of filtration which I appreciated and some medium carbonation. Interesting but a bit weak on the hops side for the style.
