COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Not for the faint of heart. True India Pale Ales had to withstand long sea voyages before slaking the thirst of cranky British troops stationed in the heat of India. Bracing, bitter, higher in alcohol. Trademark Propeller quality. A full-bodied ale for full-throttle beer lovers. Drink fresh.

Bright golden-bronze colour. Light and clean with a good dose of English hops in the nose. Woody, leafy hop character with light baguette notes and background fruitiness (kiwi, pear). Not really a classic IPA but it is a pretty good beer.

650 ml bomber courtest of OKBeer. Late November, 2005 bottling. Deep golden beer. Strong cascade type hop aroma, some nice sweet toasty malts backing it up. Flavour is a bit bready. Well balanced, sweet grapefruit and orange citrus flavour over some light sweet malt. Bready mouthfeel. Tasty but the bitterness could definitely be ramped up about 10 IBUs.

Bottle (650ml). Courtesy of jerc. Just what I need to combat my 10th day of an unshakable cold - a bomber of a strong down-east IPA! Poured clear copper with a small foamy white head. Aroma of orange juice, mild spruce resin, solid caramel malt, but I get an odd sickly sweet note, reminded me a bit of that "fruit" flavour added to kiddie medicine, or better yet those candy necklaces *girls* used to wear/eat (my wife claims it smells just like a "proper English sweet shop"). Taste is solid - solid toasty malt, solid tea/floral/juicy fresh hops - there’s almost a pot pourri feel here. Mouthfeel is slightly astringent, flat and juicy - by the end of the bottle I was mourning the fact I only had one - one of the nicest NorAm UK-style IPAs I’ve had - eat your liver, Alexander Keith’s "IPA."

Very orangey hop aroma, copper, with a small tan head. Flavour is full orange hops, piney as well, nice malt backbone. Medium bodied, well balanced, hops dance on the tongue, fine bitterness. Great! Thank You jerc and OKBeer!

Bottle from jerc and OKBeer. Thanks for the history lesson commercial description. Clear copper color with a beige head. Full hoppy aroma, citrusy and herbal. Nice malt balance in the aroma and flavor. Bitter finish, long lasting. Medium bodied and very drinkable. Its good to see more Canadian brewers getting this style right.

Sample at DougShoemaker’s 2005 December gathering - bottle courtesy of jerc & OKBeer via mr_kimchee. Clear amber with a tiny white head. Great aroma - fresh, fruity, herbal hops, really nice. Flavour has the expected strong hop character, but a good malt balance to keep things in line. Another solid beer from this great little brewery - and thanks to my brother-in-law in Halifax, I’ve got a bottle to drink & enjoy all by myself!

Bottle at ’December at DougShoemaker’s 2005’ -- courtesy of OKBeer & jerc. Pours a clear golden-orange with a small white head. Fresh citrus hops aroma and flavour along with some caramel malt. Medium bodied. Nice, tasty, well balanced IPA.
