Not for the faint of heart. True India Pale Ales had to withstand long sea voyages before slaking the thirst of cranky British troops stationed in the heat of India. Bracing, bitter, higher in alcohol. Trademark Propeller quality. A full-bodied ale for full-throttle beer lovers. Drink fresh.

Doug’s place, 12/05. I hear that this one is 25% alcohol and 7,000 IBUs. Rich copper, slightly tan head. Lemon, citrus hops. Kind of alcohol grapefruit. Nicely done grapefruit, toasty malt. Orange rind. Lingering finish. Nice.

341 mL bottle. Copper-orange with a quickly diminishing head. Hops are used well for aroma, but the beer could use a little more hop flavour and bitterness. It’s a nice beer, but it just doesn’t stand up to some of the big boys. Very drinkable, though, and a useful beer for introducing others to the style.

A solid IPA. Piney and citrusy aroma. Slight hops aroma as well. Dark amber gold colour with finger of white head. Taste is sweet citrus and pine. Little bit of hops. Very nice and very drinkable.

Poured out a clear, orangy gold, small white head fading to a skim and some random lacing. The aroma is weak but pleasant with peach and a bit more citrus, caramel, a touch of workout clothes, orange that is very very weak orange and almost a dry grass. The taste is weak and missing defined flavours, however it still is an IPA and that is fine, soft bitterness that actually covers the other flavours, weak pine. There is a decent bitterness and a touch of malt helps it out but it is still plain. Another miss by Propeller.

650 ml bottle produced Sept 07. Pours hazy orange and is topped with a rocky off white cap, leaving good sticky lace. Grainy nose comes equipped with lots of fruit (pear, peaches) and caramel malts, with a touch of spiciness and pine. Tastes of sweet caramel and fruit with good bready component, leading to sharp piney hops and grapefruit. Dry, pleasant mouthfeel. Good. Thanks to my mom for the bottle.

Transparent and pale orangish-copper in color with a saliva spittle and dusty grey wrung to form the head. Orange rind, laundry water, wet dog, simcoe and musty hard water do little to excite from the nose. Liquid farce is a watered down flavor. Hops barely bare their teeth, subsiding with citric oranges and sweet papaya. Mild carbonation merely masks a wishy-washy failsafe tenement. An uninspiring pale ale, but thanks to 1FastSTi for sharing, nonetheless.

Nice big hoppy beer. My only issue is that I’m not getting any balance in it. Just hops. Wrong carbonation and nice dry finish.
