COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Not for the faint of heart. True India Pale Ales had to withstand long sea voyages before slaking the thirst of cranky British troops stationed in the heat of India. Bracing, bitter, higher in alcohol. Trademark Propeller quality. A full-bodied ale for full-throttle beer lovers. Drink fresh.

light gold color small whtie head. Smells of passion fruit & light sweet citrus w/ a carmel back. Palte is only avg. Flavor is a sweet light malt hitns of tropical fruits no real bitterness. Reminded me of a weak try at exponential hoppiness.

UPDATED: JUN 20, 2006 Any first impressions?
-A veil of head remains over the clear tan-orange.
-A wooden, sandy, resinous hop perfume (Simcoe?) subtly seduces the nostrils.
-Caramel maltiness and citrusy, floral hoppiness coalesce smoothly.
-Mouthfeel and carbonation are a little lazy, but they do their job of carrying the restrained flavors.

What if you dig deeper?
-Some butterscotch appears in the nose, but not too agressively.
-A frank hop bitterness showers the finale.
-Peaches and citrus pulp ease the quaffing.
-Halfway between British and American IPA, this remains drinkable and friendly all the way through.

Bottle; produced the 2nd week of March (2006 I presume).

(650 ml bottle (produced in week 1, May ’07) from the brewery) Nice, a little light in just about every way...Pours light slightly amberish gold with three fingers of pillowy white head. Sweetish aroma of light toffee, pine and flowers. Mouthfeel smooth, feels a bit light. Lots of foamy rings and sheets of lacing. Flavor is good but on the mild (and probably filtered) side - light malt sweetness overlain by medium bitterness with pine and flowery, very lightly fruity hops. Slight metallic taste detected a couple of times.

Earthy hop aroma and flavor finishing with excellent hop bitterness. The malt backbone keeps this from being one dimensional yet maybe a bit thin. Not as hoppy as I’d expect for an IPA but still nice!

Bottled at Stockholm Beer Festival 2007. A hazy orange-golden beer with a lazing orangey head. The aroma is sweet with strong notes of hops and grass. The flavor is sweet malty with notes of citrus and hops as well as some notes of grass, leading to a dry an OK bitter finish.

In short: A basic standard IPA except for an unusual fruity profile. Good beer
How: Bottles. Sample at Mondial de la Bière 2008
The look: Clear dark blonde body with a medium off-white head
In long: Welll balanced a well malted and well hopped beer. Sweetness is as much honey as it is caramel. Chewy body, a little fluffy. Fruity notes are bananas (!), peach and apricots… rather unusual fruity profile for an IPA. Medium bitterness. I liked it and I thought its weird fruity notes actually helped it to be more than just-another-IPA. A nice Nova-Scotia IPA, may not have much of a future on the global north-american market but in Halifax it probably has as much competition as an ice-cream counter in Yukon.
