COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Based on a 200-year-old recipe for Porter, a brew whose popularity changed English beer-making methods in the mid-1750s. A dark full-flavoured beer but smoother and less bitter than stout. Made with softened water, Propeller London Porter is a blend of pale, roasted and chocolate malts, hopped with English and North American varieties.

Deep mahogany colour with a small tan head. Aroma of sweet roasted malt and a hint of chocolate. The coffee flavour comes on strong, with chocolate lingering behind. Finish is nice and dry, with a moderate bitterness. My only real complaint is a slightly soapy aftertaste, but another mouthful quickly remedies that. A very nice brew.

UPDATED: MAR 29, 2003 (Draught) Excellent flavours! I had this beer on tap in Lunenburg, Nova Scotia. The subtle suggestions of the roasted and chocolate malts add quite a nice aftertaste. The best porter to date that I"ve tasted throughout my travels.

porter and stout tasting ’02: black with some deep reddish hints, very well retained tan head. nutty, roasty aroma. starts uncharacteristicly tart, but surprisingly doesn’t clash with the other flavours. anise, cocoa, roasted malt, hints of caraway and brwon sugar. finishes dry. a fine porter.

Mt first porter, and I must say, I was impressed by this fine example. Hoppy notes, dark caramelly mouthfeel, bitterness to boot. I will be consuming more of this soon!!

Very dark brown/amber colour. Coffee-like roasted barley & malt aroma w/ notes of chocolate. Full bodied & somewhat chewy. Intense roasted malt flavour giving way to a moderate acidity, and somewhat hoppy finish. Not particularly well-balanced.

A dark beer with pronounced coffee flavor. Very mild with little hops. Perfect for the end of a long night of drinking.

Burbon bite and choclate. Taste similare to rye bread. Flavor much better than smell / aroma.

Very fruity aroma and flavor. Some alcohol. Some chocolate. Mild bitterness. Subdued hop aroma and flavor. Roasty.

Slightly tannic feel, rich cocoa flavors, slightly acidic and it’s odd but seems to fit well, firm but light medium body. Easy drinking porter. A bit sharper than English examples and that’s a very good thing.

Dark mahogany with a small creamy tan head. Light ebbing carbonation. Aroma of dry roasted caramel, hints of chocolate, coffee and a whisper of black licorice. Initially tangy all over the palate, followed by a long roasted malt aftertaste. Rather light bodied and crisp, but bold and forcefully flavored. Dryly malty with only a spec of caramel sweetness. Mildly bitter. Tanginess is quite compelling. Yeast or lactose? Bittersweet chocolate malts poke through as it sits and warms. Mix of coffee and licorice beneath. Body smoothes out and mellows substantially towards mid bottle. Barely any hint of hops, with only traces of Goldings here and there towards the finish. But no matter. Ends drier, with a bit more harshness and less tanginess. A solid version.
