MrManning (1430), London, Ontario, Canada Apr 22, 2008 Bottle- Deep chestnut pour unleashes a frothy off white cap. Good lace and retention. Cocoa and roasty malts fill the nose, and are followed by smoky, woodsy, dark fruits. The flavour profile accents the nose with the cocoa and roasted qualities, and added is a good dose of bittering hops and dark fruit. I like the fruity component to this porter. The finish is bitter-sweet and full of smooth creamy roasted hops. Very interesting.
DocLock (4102), Lower Pottsgrove, Pennsylvania, USA Jul 29, 2008 Pours deep brownish black with frothy khaki head. Nose is roasty patent malt, chocoff, figgy fruit. Tastes dry, creamy, with roasty dark malt, chocoff, molasses, and mild dark fruit. Remains rather dry, roasty, and creamy throughout. GreenWall (40), Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada Jul 20, 2008 Dark brown, almost black, with dense slightly rocky tan head. Aroma is coffee, dark fruits, dark malt acidity. Hell of smooth in the mouth, like a chocolate milkshake. Tangy roasty malts. A rich medium body. Smooth smooth smooth. Perfect porter. I sometimes forget how lucky I am to have this in my city. Vac (2232), San Diego, California, USA Jun 30, 2008 Bottle shared by SDbruboy, Thanks Cliff. Pours with a dark brown body topped by a thin head with some lacing left on the glass. It’s slightly sweet and malty with a very slight touch of roast and a hint of candy sugar. Light bodied for a porter, smooth and a touch dry. SDbruboy (1822), San Diego, California, USA Jun 28, 2008 22 oz bottle from Jerc. Pours dark brown and clear with mahogany red highlights when held to light, and a small beige head. Big molasses aroma, and roasty with brown sugar notes as well. Flavor of roasty malts, nice herbal bitterness, a bit of dark chocolate. Medium body and gentle carbonation. Quevillon (1298), Sainte-Thérèse, Quebec, Canada May 30, 2008 Bière #26 au Mondial 08 (30/5/08), bouteille. Brune cola foncée, peu de collet. Arome de noix, choco-caramel malté. Goût de café noir, un peu de chocolat noir amère, finission sec. Pas mauvaise!
