More dusty cocoa in the taste, along with a hint of licorice and the requisite roasted malts that never tip too far into bitterness. The low to medium carbonation is just about right.

Chocolate on the nose. Surprisingly less bitter then I would have thought of the style. Roasted sweetness initially on the mouthful but the chocolate sweet chases the bitter. jimmay (232), Waterloo, Ontario, Canada

| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Jun 29, 2009 Bottle thanks to matt7215 via trade. Pours black with red highlights when held up to a light. Huge rocky head that threatens to spill out of my glass a few times. The head retains well and laces nicely. Aroma is earthy with hints of chocolate, ash, copper and apples. Tastes very metallic (in a good way) with coffee, gala apples, ash, earth, and a long semi bitter finish. Creamy mouth feel. Nice Porter. Thanks Matt! Savvy1982 (330), Lethbridge, Alberta, Canada
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Jun 29, 2009 Bottle, thanks to hobbersr for sharing. Pours a very dark brown, nearly black, with reddish flashes. Huge pale tan head that slowly reduces, with pretty, short-lived lacing. Nose is dark honey, lovely raw oats/oatmeal, roasted malt, ashy smokiness, raw steel, hot copper, nice earthiness. Flavors of copper/blood, nice ashes, ballpoint pen ink, coffee, roast, clean acid, mild apple. Good, not great. JesseM (681), Kitchener-Waterloo, Ontario, Canada

Big thanks to my brother! Pours a deep dark, opaque brown with a small tan head. The aroma is very nice, mostly roasted and chocolate malt, small tin factor from the subtle hops. Flavour is equally nice, chocomalt and toasted barley, very well integrated bitterness to match the sweet malt body. Everything is subtle and in good balance, it’s a very well crafted and integrated brew. Very smooth and elegant, goes down fast! Great session porter. I’m pretty glad my brother picked this up, especially given I don’t have to wait for the LCBO now to take FOREVER to bring this in. Cletus (5061), Connecticut, USA
