Commercial Description:
Based on a 200-year-old recipe for Porter, a brew whose popularity changed English beer-making methods in the mid-1750s. A dark full-flavoured beer but smoother and less bitter than stout. Made with softened water, Propeller London Porter is a blend of pale, roasted and chocolate malts, hopped with English and North American varieties.

A nearly opaque, black beer with a creamy tan head on top and a subtle carob and cocoa aroma. More dusty cocoa in the taste, along with a hint of licorice and the requisite roasted malts that never tip too far into bitterness. The low to medium carbonation is just about right.

On tap at the Paragon in Halifax. Generous amounts of creamy head , root beer colour. Chocolate on the nose. Surprisingly less bitter then I would have thought of the style. Roasted sweetness initially on the mouthful but the chocolate sweet chases the bitter.

Pours dark black, large frothy cappucino coloured head. Aroma is nutty, roasted malt. Flavour the same. Smooth silky mouthfeel, finely carbonated. Very rich and enjoyable!

Tap@Propeller Brewery, Halifax. Black beer with a strong head. The aroma is roasted and bitter, and the flavour is roasted and bitter with a yeasty element to it. Overall a nice porter.

Bottle thanks to matt7215 via trade. Pours black with red highlights when held up to a light. Huge rocky head that threatens to spill out of my glass a few times. The head retains well and laces nicely. Aroma is earthy with hints of chocolate, ash, copper and apples. Tastes very metallic (in a good way) with coffee, gala apples, ash, earth, and a long semi bitter finish. Creamy mouth feel. Nice Porter. Thanks Matt!

Bottle, thanks to hobbersr for sharing. Pours a very dark brown, nearly black, with reddish flashes. Huge pale tan head that slowly reduces, with pretty, short-lived lacing. Nose is dark honey, lovely raw oats/oatmeal, roasted malt, ashy smokiness, raw steel, hot copper, nice earthiness. Flavors of copper/blood, nice ashes, ballpoint pen ink, coffee, roast, clean acid, mild apple. Good, not great.

650mL bomber shared with my brother who brought it back for me from a cross-country trip. Big thanks to my brother! Pours a deep dark, opaque brown with a small tan head. The aroma is very nice, mostly roasted and chocolate malt, small tin factor from the subtle hops. Flavour is equally nice, chocomalt and toasted barley, very well integrated bitterness to match the sweet malt body. Everything is subtle and in good balance, it’s a very well crafted and integrated brew. Very smooth and elegant, goes down fast! Great session porter. I’m pretty glad my brother picked this up, especially given I don’t have to wait for the LCBO now to take FOREVER to bring this in.

Bottle courtesy of matt7215. Pours brown with a generous tan head. Smells of dark fruit, earthy, caramel, brown sugar. Tastes of tea, earth, raisins. Light spicy finish.
