COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Tiefschwarz.

Pours dark brown/black with a tan smear. A little fruity. Full bodied. Flavor is dark fruit/prune/plum with ever increasing peat.

33cl bottle, Weinladen Berlin-Tiergarten, BB 10/2016. - Thin-bodied German crossover between an extra hopped Doppelbock and idea of an ImpStout. Really unbalanced and too thin. Three dominant tasting notes, echoing all over the place: Detergent soapy perfume, black olive brine, burnt rubber roast. Hops not really blending in? Still, oddly just about drinkable, lacking dryness but not too sweet. Rare expert characteristic: ABV does not show in the nose. Was looking forward to this after Propeller’s more confident take on an IPA, but do not need to sample this one again.

Bottle, 9.1%. The aroma seems a little fruity at first, but turns roasted. Black colour, seems unclear. Very small brown head. The flavour starts off sweetish and creamy, turns salty and quite roasted. The mouthfeel is a little thin for the style, but not a real problem. Reminds me of a Danish Baltic porter.

Bottle. Pours cloudy very dark brown with small tan head. Dark aroma of malt, caramel and dark chocolate. Froasty, kalty flavour with notes of caramel and coffee beans. OK but I find it a little hard to see the imperial in the stout. Perhaps it’s a little too watery.

Almost black pour. Medium sized tan head. Little lacing. Bready, malty aroma. Some raisin in there. Sweet malty taste with some bright fruit notes. A slight metallic bite. Not bad. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Aroma is roasty along with coffee, some smoke and a bit of alcohol. Flavour is malty and smokey, a touch watery, along with some dark fruit and coffee. Average bodied. Pretty good.

Shaney (1735) - Köln / Cologne, GERMANY - APR 15, 2013
Kaffeearoma, allerdings auch eine Lakritznote. Dunkelbraun, wenig Schaum.

2013-04-12. Black body with a small tan head. 3++ Aroma is interesting, dusty malt, dark malt, muted fruit. 7+ Flavour is similar, sweet dark malt, light Baltic porter like notes in the finish, whispers of anise. Palate is very smooth average plus palate. 3+ A bit perplexing at times but enjoyable. Bottle shared by JoeMcPhee
