4.4 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20
Well balanced head with aromas of caramel, coffee and maybe some chocolate. Light hops to balance. Exremely dark pour, medium froth. Heavy bitter taste that is pleasant, with very light sweet undertones. More carbonation than I expected, but it works with this beer. The finish is long, and bitter. This is a fantastic beer, top notch.

4.1 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20
Jet black beer with a tan head. Smells of dark chocolate and coffee aroma. Coffee and chocolate come through in taste as well as roasted malts. Nice slightly bitter finish. Nice beer.

341 ml bottle. A nice big imp stout. Pours black in colour, with decent tan head. Aroma and taste are firstly chocolate, with decent balance of coffee and a little bit of alchohol peeking out. Good!

3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Chocolate and coffee aromas dominate, with a bit of resiny hops. Appearance is nearly black with a surprisingly frothy tan head. Slightly sweet (might be better in a few months) and a bit bitter. Not-quite-full body and creamy mouth feel. Lively carbonation for a stout with a bitter finish. Not my favorite imperial stout, but worth drinking on a cold Halifax night.

4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
Maybe not the most distinctive Iíve ever had but pretty damn good, Got a growler fresh from the brewery so my opinion may be biased on debauchery.

3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
12oz bottle from a trade... Pours a dark brownish black with reddish edges and no head... Aroma of char and liquid smoke which dominate upfront. Notes of dark chocolate to follow but ultimately dall to the wayside to more
of the dominant aspects... Aroma of smoke and roast with less assertive stout qualities which arenít too imperial like. Some earth and chalk in the finish. Somewhat muted upfront but opened up after a few.

3.1 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 13/20
Black/darkest brown. Small layer of frothy tan foam. Mild aroma- light roast, light chocolate, light opium-like herbal perfume, and drier dense bread like malt. Flavor is even more mild with the same characters. Medium body, light carbonation. Not enough weight here, tame imperial stout. An interesting herbal perfume is somewhat redeeming, but still not enough going on here. From notes.

3.7 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
341 ml bottle from the brewery, served at cellar temperature in a tulip glass. At least two years old.
App.: Deep brown-black with a fair light mocha head.
Aroma: Strong, thick, oily brown sugar, molasses, licorice, black coffee and dark chocolate, somewhat fruity, lighter milk chocolate as well, lovely.
Palate: Medium body, moderate effervescence.
Flav.: Still fruity with lots of grape jelly, less of the deep, rich oily malts found in the nose, still a fair amount of licorice, some molasses, less chocolate, a touch vinous and woody; kinda sweet with just enough bitterness, some coffee to finish.
The flavour canít match the palate, but still very tasty, particularly for its age.

2.4 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 9/20
Nearly a gusher. Over carbonation leads to a sizable but large-bubbled cola-looking head that stays around longer than is welcome. Nearly pitch black body. Nose: lactic chocolate milk balls, ash, roast, soft, melted milk chocolate all covered by the small but noticeable scent of isovaleric acid. Medium thickness, some chewiness and sweetness up front, drying considerable over the middle, leaving an ashy and parched finish, uncomfortable and unflavorful. Heavily astringent, excessively roasty and sulfuric in the same way that charcoal and a recently extinguished match turn the nose. Not good.
