Thanks to 5000 for sending me this bottle. Golden pour with a white head. The aroma and flavor have some bread and biscuit malt notes as well as some grass and a some light herbal notes. Medium mouthfeel and medium carbonation.

Bottle:   Golden, slight haze, moderate foamy white head, nice lacing.   Maybe its just me, but this is their 2nd beer that reminds me of pencil shavings.   Literally, its a freshly shaved piece of carbon and wood.   Not too big on that.   Otherwise a bit herbal.   Just the same on the tongue.   Reminds me of elementary school.   Body and mouthfeel are moderate to full.   Could stand a bit more carbonation.   Herbal pencil shavings on the finish.   Anyone agree, pencil shavings?

A soft pour into my large Tripel Karmeliet tulip produces a four finger thick, pale tan colored head; the head slowly subsides with an almost meringue like consistency, and it leaves thick layers of lacing on the sides of my glass. The beer is a light amber color that shows a lightly hazed, copper-gold hue when held up to the light. The aroma has an earthy woodiness to it somehow, almost a savory quality, lots of hay like and pale malt derived chewy pale wheat cracker notes, but with also a solid rustic, white bread character to it as well. Towards the finish there is at times a bright fruitiness, softly citrusy, and somewhat pear like.

Soft citrus notes are noticeable along with the prickly carbonation and light body, as well as a nicely biting bitterness that lingers through the sip and beyond. Slightly pepper like notes yield to a woody herbal character and there is a solid pale grain character that contributes a bright whole wheat cracker like note and a rustic white bread flavor to this beer. The beer is quite light and quaffable, the type of beer that I have to consciously slow down with otherwise I am prone to taking large drafts of this beer and having it disappear quicker than I would like. There is a nice citrus character here (likely hop derived), and a hint of pear like fruit character as well. Lightly herbal notes that are sort of grassy, perhaps a touch pine leaning, and with a touch of that savory character that was in the nose.

This is my kind of beer, low in alcohol, full in flavor, with lots of interesting things going on. Using a bit more characterful yeast would take this to another level, but I have got to admit that I am enjoying this just fine as is.

Interesting beer. Fresh and spicy nose is clean with a white pepper note. Mouthfeel is effervescent and crisp up front, and soft, thin and dry toward the finish. Malt flavor has a nice breadiness, but it’s tenuous and fleeting (that said, it’s not bad for a 4.5% beer). Mild bitterness. Aromas are very pleasant with hints of wet flower petals, faint perfumes, a hint of lemongrass, and light spices (clove, pepper, thyme). Overall, flavors are on the light side (again, not surprising as it’s only 4.5%), but the aromas are surprisingly nice, and it is bright and refreshing.

750, capped. Thanks j! Pours a slightly hazy medium gold with a dense white head that sticks around. Mild, tangy herbal nose, a little dampened but fresh. Creamy medium body with lively carb. Soft herbal notes and crackery malt. Unusual but not weird. Tasty.
