Draft at Big Wood - thanks to mcberko and Ferris for figuring out what beer to enter this rating as. Appearance: murky dark amber pour without much head. Combined nose and mouth (that phrase sounds strangely vulgar, but I can’t rationally say why): herbal, cherry, medicinal, cereal. Lightly sweet, lightly tart, medicinal throughout. Medium body, low carbonation, slick. Don’t get wine or whatever, but finish reminiscent of medicinal corn nuts.

Draft - Balsamic, cherry, wercschestire and spice. Deep cloudy maroon with a decent beige head. Tastes just as it smells, very spicy and interesting but good.

On tap at Brouwer’s Cafe for Big Wood 2014, pours a deep dark amber with a small beige head. Aroma brings out oak barrels, along with red wine, vinegar, and tart cherries. Flavour is unusual and complex, with spiciness upfront, along with tart red fruits, dry red wine, and oak. Quite unusual, but very interesting. I really dig the vinous quality. Excellent stuff.

Bottled 11/13 Brown, cloudy with a solid quilt of light cream foam. Smells belgian, some dark cherries. Flavor follows, but not much cherry except on the finish. FUll bodied with moderately hi carb. Okay, but nothing special.

Cloudy dark amber with a large yellow head that leaves some nice lacing. Aroma is prunes, fig, spruce tips, hint of rosemary, cherry, candi sugar, toffee apple. Medium-light body, slight creamy mouthfeel, herbal on the palate, light carbonation, slightly dry finish. Taste is herbs, wild cherries, prunes, basil, dried apricot. Quite interesting
