The history of 4 Kings can be found in hill country of central Texas where the co-founder of Props Craft brewery hails. This ale is named after his rich family heritage where “King” has been utilized for four generations as a middle name in his family. This ale is handcrafted and in the traditional American brown ale style. Formulated using a combination of caramel malts to give this ale a strong brown color.

Pours a nice dark brown color. Aromas of nuts/chocolate/caramel. Flavor is nutty with a nice sweet honey chocolate taste and a little coffee bitterness.

Tan colored pour. Small off-white head. Some lacing. A malty aroma, some bready notes. A bit of vanilla and caramel. Butterscotch. Huge butter bomb. It is a bit much. Makes it seem a little cloying.

Little head, pours clear clean brown. Little bit of malt on the nose. Has some fore tongue bitterness with a bit of less pleasant lingering bitterness. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

3/22/13. On tap at the brewpub. Hazy brown pour with a small khaki head. Lighty nutty sweetness and caramel on the aroma. The flavor has sweet caramel malts, nuttiness, and a touch of chocolate... something is a touch too acidic or astringent. Eh.

Draft: Poured a brown with an off white colored head. Aroma was light malts. Taste is mixed malts. Not bad, but I wouldn’t write home to mom about it either.

On draft at Props. Pours a mostly clear brown with an off-white head. Nose is tobacco, some light nut, some light toasted malt, and some earthy hops. Flavor follows: earth, light cocoa, tobacco, and some mild hops. Light to medium in body and a brown ale.

Tap. Pours clear dark brown with a small tan head that leaves some lacing. Aroma is quite weak with notes of roasted malt and caramel. Taste is malt, grain, faintly nutty with a light bitter grassy finish. Impressively unimpressive.
