January 29th, 2013 - Prost’s albier may not be as exciting as some of the other offerings on tap, but it again demonstrates that an altbier doesn’t have to taste like a thin, weak amber. It begins with a nutty aroma, and a slight pilsener skunkiness to it - not bad, but identifiable. The taste is cleaner, leading with a caramel note, and following with a nice mineral water profile. I also detect those candied almonds that appear at fairs and festivals, so add cinnamon and brown sugar to the flavor profile too. Sweet, and drinkable, another great drink from Prost. And by now I’m seriously coveting the banners around the brewery. Classiness all around.

Clear amber with a long-lasting creamy white head, loads of lace. Aromas of toast, dry caramel, light earthiness and a hint of raisin. Flavor is smooth and semi-dry, a bit too light though. Taste had some toasted biscuit and a light caramel tone, and a whisper of raisin like the nose.
