This bier is delicate and pale with less bitterness than a Pils and less sweetness than a Helles. A subtle fruitiness is the hallmark of this classic style from Köln. Along with Alt, this is one of the last ale holdouts in Germany

This beer is very close to perfect for the style. Light golden pour, clean and clear. Head is white, rich and sticky. Aroma has a blend of sweet malt, florals and grassy hops. Tastes like a sharp lager with hints of floral, biscuit, white grape, sulfur, and light earthy spice. Very nice beer.

On tap at Colorado Plus poured a clear gold with a small lasting white head. Aromas of bread, spicy hops and light citrus. Palate was light to medium bodied and smooth. Flavors of bread, earthiness and light spicy hops with a smooth finish.

Tap at Prost - served in the appropriate glass - clear gold - frothy, well-sustained head - nose is clean malt sweetness, grassy hops, moderate mineral, but also an off-putting note of sulfur - light body, medium frothy texture - light peppery bitterness up front, followed by a medium sweet, honeyed maltiness - finish is medium crisp, moderately bitter, light mineral - decent brew but for the off note in the nose and slightly higher than expected sweetness as it warms.

This is a crisp clean light yellow beer. The flavor is subtle with a hint of bitterness. A real summer session beer.

On tap at the brewery. Very light yellow color with a white head. The flavor is of thin malt with mild bitterness. True to style of tasting like a lager but brewed with ale yeast - crisp, clean, no off flavors. . Not a bad beer but not a style I prefer.
