Soft, grainy, malty, a hint of smoke, liquorice, roasted grain. Not loud, but nice. By far their best when I visited.

Pours black with a light tan head. Aroma has notes of roasted malt, oatmeal, chocolate and coffee. Taste is medium sweet and light to medium bitter with a long roasted light bitter finish. Body is medium, texture is oily, carbonation is soft.

On tap at the brewpub. Pours pitch black with a big creamy light tanned head.Light roasted malt aroma, liquorice and coffee,ash and tar.Taste is burnt malts, roasted and bitter liquorice, lovely lingering light bitter/roasted malts, a good one again from Mandal.

On tap @ Provianten. Black body with a big, foamy beige head. Nice aroma of dark, roasted malt, coffee and chocolate. Flavor is sweet, dark, soft roasted malt, dark chocolate, coffee and a pleasant balanced bitterness. Body is medium pluss. Nice, tasty and well balanced. Great ale, specially considering at this low alcohol level.

On tap at the brewpub. Dark brown colour with a beige head. Aroma is coffee, roasted malt, chocolate. Flavour is coffee, sugar, malt, rye, licorice, caramel, chocolate, wheat. Nice beer.

On tap@Provianten. Pours black with a creamy beige head. Aroma of roasted malt, chocolate, caramel and licorice. Flavor is sweet licorice with some roasted, fruity and caramel notes. Medium body, average carbonation.

On tap at the brewpub. Looking rather gorgeous this one, next to jet black body, topped by a two finger dark beige head leaving lacings. The aroma is on the roasted side, with some caramel sauce and a touch of salty licorice. Coffee and a faint touch of chocolate too. The flavor has some sweetness, but far from cloying, wiht roasted malts, coffee and some salty licorice. Roasted kind of bitterness towards the end, where there’s also coffee, some sweetness and a touch of licorice and chocolate. More or less full-bodied, quite creamy and dryish. Certainly a nice one. 120518
