True to type. Sweet malt, a little edge of bitterness. Not impressive, but these beers rarely are.

Pours dark amber with a small tanned head. Aroma of dark light burnt caramel, bready malts and citrussy hops . Taste is moderate sweet caramel, with just a tad of roast that fits this beer well

On tap @ Provianten. Almost clear, dark brown body with a nice, foamy tan head. Aroma is mild grainy with grassy hops. Flavor has caramel malt, bread and a bit spicy with grassy bitterness. Feels a bit sour. Medium body and yeasty aftertaste. Decent but not very exiting, I think this one has some of the signature flavor from Provianten, at least the typical flavor of the first attempt on making lager. Later I learned that the brewer has succeed in making a much better lager without this slightly sour yeasty bread flavor.

3.4 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20 yngwie (10798) - Kristiansand, NORWAY - MAY 18, 2012
On tap at the brewpub. A lightly unclear, dark amber to brown beer. A dense, finger thick beige head sits on top. Some roasted notes in the aroma, a touch of coffee, as well as fruity notes and grass. There’s a light citric touch to the flavor, but it’s more on the sweet side. A decent bitterness deals with the roasted, caramel-like maltyness and grassy notes. Full-bodied and pleasantly carbonated. Roasted and bitter end, but quite subtle. It’s a slightly unusual beer maybe, but I find it tasteful and pleasant anyway. 120518
