4.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
On tap @ the brewpub. Black body with a thick, creamy beige head. Nice aroma of roasted malt, coffee, hops with a hint of liquorices. Flavor of moderate roasted malt, fruity, mild coffee and some bitter hops. Fine body, rather dry finish. Smooth and well balanced between roast, bitterness and sweetness. One of the better Schwartzbier I have tasted and definitively the best beer from Provianten so far.

3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
On tap at the brewpub. It pours a black body and a two-finger, creamy light tan head. Lovely lacings. Rather roasted aroma, coffee, dried fruits and some grassy, fruity hints. Some faint notes of diacetyl too. Smooth on the palate, mostly on the dry side, medium to full bodied and with a tad high level of carbonation. A nice bitterness in the flavor, both of the roasted and hoppy kind. Roasted malts leaving some coffee and a touch of licorice. Roasted and pleasantly bitter finish. Certainly my favorite so far from Provianten. 111022
