3.1 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 13/20 Metalchopz (1173) - Quebec, CANADA - OCT 5, 2011
Originally rated February 2006. Thanks to Plug for bringing this one back from the brewpub. This beer is now called Pump House Scotch Ale. Pours a dark caramel-copper colour with a nice creamy tanned head. Good lacing with medium retention. The nose is nutty and malty with a touch of brown sugar. Watery mouthfeel and tiny bubble carbonation. Starts off on a caramel note and finishes on a smoked aftertaste. Too bad body is too thin and taste too light, because this would be a great Scotch ale... or rauchbier.

Draft. Light mouthfeel for a scotch ale, molasses malty taste, odd bitterness that creeps into the aftertaste.
2.2 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 8/20 Powertrip (756) - Calgary, Alberta, CANADA - APR 16, 2011
UPDATED: MAY 11, 2011 Single bottle purchased from Zyn Liquor in Calgary, AB on 04/15/2011. Colour: Hazelnut brown with walnut brown medium-high head that quickly evaporates. Nose: Oreo cookie crumb, hay, touch of horse manuere, tar. Really not overly pleasent. Taste: Medium-light sweet, light sour, light bitter. Overly-roasted malt, again some manuere. Finish is empty of character. Quite turned off by this....

2.9 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20 manuchampions (1154) - Vancouver, British Columbia, CANADA - NOV 9, 2010
Pours a dark brown with thin head. Aroma is certainly malty but not altogether pleasing. Taste is better with deep caramel malt, chewy for the lower alcohol. Decent, but aren’t Scottish ales supposed to be over 7%?
2 AROMA 3/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 8/20 TheHulk (479) - Lethbridge, Alberta, CANADA - OCT 21, 2010
There is just a bit of barell in the aroma but not really that much, nor much scotch. It’s dark, but there’s no head or lacing, and it’s fairly plain otherwise. A bit of scotchy % and some malt, but it’s really quite light given the style. It’s a bit foamy and you get a slight bit of malt and scotch taste, but is all short and done and over with and not that memorable.
3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20 Cole (885) - , Alberta, CANADA - OCT 13, 2010
Pours dark brown with a very thick and rich head. Aroma is sweet and rich. Very malty, Flavour is rich and sweet. this beer is very malty, it almost has a bready character to it. It tastes good but is very thin an d lack luster. All in all pfretty weak in my opinion.
2.3 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 9/20 Cirrhosis (886) - Edmonton, Alberta, CANADA - SEP 20, 2010
Dark brown body with a spinning bubble island spinning in the middle. Aroma is a not so goo wet ashes ( campfire after a rain storm) peat but a fake chemical peat, and burnt coffee. Taste is much of the same but far less chemically fake then the aroma. Peat, burnt coffee a smoky chocolate beer almost reminds me of a porter. After taste seems very sweet. There is an odd hoppy bite that I’m really digging but not enough to rescue this beer. I guess this was ok but not the beer I was hoping it would be.
