caramel, bread, smoke, toast, red, brown, clear, minimal head, tan foam, medium sweetness, lightly bitter, medium body, sticky, soft carbonation Ruby/brown pour. Mild carbonation at room temperature. Smoky sweet aroma (almost artificial smoke IMO). Taste is predominantly sweet malt with hint of butterscotch. Almost no bitterness. Sticky mouthfeel and lingering sweet aftertaste. Very low carbonation. Not a bad session pint, but a bit heavy on the sweet side.

Beer pours deep reddish brown, kind of hazy, with very minimal head. Nice smelling beer, a raisin smell, maybe some plum or prune. Taste is good as well, distinctive with sweetness and a repeat of the plummy aroma. Also a nice blend of bitterness in there. Palate is OK, just average. Overall, a nice change from IPAs for a while.

Light brown pour.Thin grey head is pretty much non-existent. Looks almost flat. Fairly complex nose with roasted malt, figs and some smokiness. Dried fruit and some oak on the palate. Nice medium bodied mouth feel. I like this one.

Pours a clear very dark brown with small off white head quickly amounting to a very tiny ring around the glass. Aromas of Smoke, smoked malt, nutty, malty. Flavours of smoke, caramel, watery.

On tap at the brewpub. Pours a clear dark reddish-brown with average-sized light tan head. Aroma is quite malty with toffee, nuts and scotch. Flavour has big rye character with toffee, nuts and a little fruitiness. Ok, but not the best Pump House beer.

Aroma of roasted vegetables. Tastes like smoked meat, with sweet malts. Not bad.

Metalchopz (1741) - Cantley, Quebec, CANADA - OCT 5, 2011
Originally rated February 2006. Thanks to Plug for bringing this one back from the brewpub. This beer is now called Pump House Scotch Ale. Pours a dark caramel-copper colour with a nice creamy tanned head. Good lacing with medium retention. The nose is nutty and malty with a touch of brown sugar. Watery mouthfeel and tiny bubble carbonation. Starts off on a caramel note and finishes on a smoked aftertaste. Too bad body is too thin and taste too light, because this would be a great Scotch ale... or rauchbier.

Draft. Light mouthfeel for a scotch ale, molasses malty taste, odd bitterness that creeps into the aftertaste.

Powertrip (999) - Calgary, Alberta, CANADA - APR 16, 2011
UPDATED: MAY 11, 2011 Single bottle purchased from Zyn Liquor in Calgary, AB on 04/15/2011. Colour: Hazelnut brown with walnut brown medium-high head that quickly evaporates. Nose: Oreo cookie crumb, hay, touch of horse manuere, tar. Really not overly pleasent. Taste: Medium-light sweet, light sour, light bitter. Overly-roasted malt, again some manuere. Finish is empty of character. Quite turned off by this....
