3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20 Eructoblaster (2446) - Gatineau, Quebec, CANADA - JUN 27, 2006
On tap at Maxwell’s Plum (Halifax, NS). Nice brown body topped with a thick and lasting off-white foamy head. Aroma carries oaky, smokey and brown sugar notes. Taste is thinner but quite decent. It ends with a good bittersweet finish. Although I was expecting something stronger, this is a well-made Scotch Ale.
3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20 probstblueribbon (2378) - Nepean, Ontario, CANADA - NOV 11, 2006
Sampled at the brewpub. Appearance: reddish copper with a small tan head. Aroma: plenty of peaty smoke, sweet, lightly roasted malt int he background. Palate: very low carbonation and med. mouthfeel. Flav.: smokey, slightly sweet with a smokey, slightly bitter finish. As a Scotch whiskey fan, I approve!
3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20 rudolf (2276) - Buffalo, New York, USA - MAY 11, 2008
Bottle from Gregclow - Thanks! Ruby body, frothy light tan head. Nose is somewhat raisiny, rich meladonins, smoke/light soy. Flavor is rich malt, lots of smoke, sweet caramel. A hint of hops round out the finish. More a smoked than a scotch but nice!
3.5 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20 fata2683 (2165) - Tucson, Arizona, USA - MAY 17, 2010
bottle pours dark mahogany with a tall light tan head. Aroma is molasses and bread malts. Flavor is chocolate malt, some caramel, and light spicing with a hint of coffee. Not bad at all.
2.9 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20 radiomgb (2143) - Peterborough, Ontario, CANADA - AUG 2, 2008
Clear deep ruby in colour, large and lingering tan coloured head, light lacing. The aroma is of caramel, moderate sweetness, malty with some chocolate. The flavour is malty and quite sweet but at the same time watery and thin. Watery mouthfeel, medium/light body, medium carbonation. Finishes malty and sweet.
This is thin and watery pretty much from start to finish but it is enjoyable. Lacking oomph.
341ml bottle obtained in a trade with OKBeer, thanks Bobby.

Bottle. Copper-mahogany body with a small white head. The aroma is quite smokey to start among notes of toast and caramel. The taste is thinner with significant maltiness having hints of smoke. Smoothy creamy body with low carbonation. Finishing slightly vegetal along with some mild chocolate.
3.6 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20 pintbypint (1978) - Edmonton, Alberta, CANADA - DEC 2, 2007
341ml brown bottle. Pours orangey brown. Head is light tan coloured, fades to a ring around the edges of the glass. Aroma is surprisingly smokey and campefire-like with a dash of caramel malt. Flavour is similar to aroma, smokey malts, some caramel sweetness, light note of peat. Light caramel aftertaste. Average body and carbonation level. Good session ale, decent example of Scottish ale from New Brunswick of all places.

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20 VerticalBaconStrips (1898) - Assat, Alberta, CANADA - JUN 17, 2009
Poured out a solid red brew covered with a large thick tan head with nice retention and some patchy lacing. The aroma was really nice with its soft, fragrant impression with nice bready and caramel malts...seems like there is some roast here....or toast....kinda stuck in the middle with that one... The flavour is very good with ample caramel and solid toasted malts, toffee and smoke. Yum yum! A nice soft feeling beer with good carbonation, a good middle and finishes with a slight bitter and smoky aftertaste. The only negative that I can say about this beer is that is does come across watery.
