From bottle. Pours dark and clear cola colour with little head. Not much in the way of aroma. Taste has some smoke and peat, but felt watered down slightly. Decent pick.

There is just a bit of barell in the aroma but not really that much, nor much scotch. It’s dark, but there’s no head or lacing, and it’s fairly plain otherwise. A bit of scotchy % and some malt, but it’s really quite light given the style. It’s a bit foamy and you get a slight bit of malt and scotch taste, but is all short and done and over with and not that memorable.

Heard a lot of good reports from this pub from Moncton, I was eager to try this one out. Only 4.8% ABV...Not very Wee Heavy! Dark caramel brown, with just enough head to differentiate it from a glass of cola.
Good smokey aroma, not exactly Schlenkerla, but let’s say 70% Schlenkerla, so pretty smokey, and with an added peatyness scotch lovers will appreciate. Has more body than it’s ABV suggests, but the roasted, almost burnt malt flavor and medium body makes it more Rauchbier than Scotch ale. Where’s the caramel? Where’s the alcohol? I liked it mind you, but I wasn’t expecting this.

As a big fan of Scottish Ales, I was sorely dissapointed. Scottish Ales are supposed to be malty and bold - this was bland; the beer equivalent of sugarless kool-aid. However, my opinion seems to be in the minority, so perhaps the next time I’m at the Market Square Bar and Grill in St. Andrews NB, I’ll give it another try.

Tastes like Old Peculier. Nice roasted aroma and bitter bite.

good frothy head, decent taste - aftertaste very nutty. Not really my style. certainly couldn't have more than one or two of these before the nutty aftertaste got to me, but worth a try - certainly a unique taste.

On tap. Re-rate coming after I’ve had the bottle and tried on tap in moncton. Something bothered me about the glass I had at the Firehouse or whatever it is called at Regent mall.

The nose is nutty and malty with a touch of brown sugar. Watery mouthfeel and tiny bubble carbonation. Starts off on a caramel note and finishes on a smoked aftertaste. Too bad body is too thin and taste too light, because this would be a great Scotch ale... or rauchbier.

Poors a nice brownish color, aroma of grapes and small fruit, taste is a little caramel and toffee. Overall very nice beer, one of my favorite from that brewery
