3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20 patricks110 (810) - Alberta, CANADA - DEC 8, 2011
A really nice Bitter. The pour is a rather bland coppery amber body with a foamy white head that dies slowly to a thin cap. Some spotty lacing is left on the glass. The nose is prominently hopped with a nice toffee, biscuity malt with nice citrus and grass notes. Notes of light fruits and bread. The taste is slightly sweet and fruity with a lemony hop and a bitter hoppy finish. A lingering hop bitterness with approximately 40 IBU’s by estimate. Overall, a great SOB with impressive balance between the malts and hops.

Caramel-amber colour with a small off-white head. Aroma and flavour are both quite hop-forward, with strong grapefruit notes, and a sweet malt backing - simple, but very good. Medium bodied, and quite sessionable.

341ml bottle pours a slightly hazy pale amber color with a substantial white head that settles down to some nice lace. Aroma is dominated by floral and citrusy hops with a trace of grains. Taste is a pleasing hoppy bitterness with some underlying malty sweetness. This is my absolute favorite from this brewery.

Great leave on this bitter. Slightly floral smell and pours out a nice murky redish colour. 330ml bottle in Canmore.

Pours a slightly hazy copper gold colour. Off white head and thick. Aroma of bread and hops resin. Taste is a robust hoppy bitter, faint hint of raisin sweetness. Finish is a toasty bitter. Not complex... quite a straightforward, confident beer. Really good.

341ml bottle. While the SOB is bitter, more bitter than some English examples, it is not overpoweringly so. The body is light and crisp, and combined with the flavour not being too strong is is very drinkable. Overall, a solid beer, but not as remarkable as it’s Maritime competitor, the Propeller ESB.

Bouteille de 341ml. Bière cuivrée-dorée, mousse blanche peu durable. Nez frais de houblon anglais et de malt caramel. La bouche est moyenne-mince, avec des saveurs classiques de houblons discrets et une touche fruité de la levure.

(341 ml from NBL) Le liquide a une robe légèrement cuivrée.
