BBF 11/2012. Clear medium to dark brown colour with a average large, frothy, good lacing, mostly diminishing, off-white to white head. Aroma is moderate malty, bread, caramel, oxidide. Flavour is moderate sweet with a average to long duration, oxidide, caramel, bread, vintage. Body is medium, texture is oily, carbonation is soft. [20130222]

fiulijn (14552) - Vancouver, British Columbia, CANADA - FEB 24, 2013
Dark brown color with small head. Smell of old beer, some oxidisation, soil, chestnut honey. Dry mouthfeel, caramel flavor, followed by light sweetness; the bitterness is medium-low; it has a earthy feeling, and metallic too.
Old now, but it has never been good.

asheft (2509) - Ottawa, Ontario, CANADA - MAY 1, 2009
[bottle] Aroma of sourish brown sugar with some floral notes. Clear, orangish brown with a lasting, beige blanket and some lace. Flavour is kind of a hybrid between an altbier and a british brown: citrusy notes from the fermentation, along with typical German hops bittering and some toasty malt nuttiness. A bit weak. Medium to light body, moderate carbonation, slightly bitter finish.

Ungstrup (29332) - Citizen of the universe, DENMARK - MAR 7, 2009
Bottled. A brown beer with a thin beige head. The aroma is sweet malty with notes of caramel, and so is the flavor, leading to a dry bitter finish. The body is thin.

Papsoe (25085) - Frederiksberg, DENMARK - JUN 4, 2008
(Bottle 50 cl) Clear orangey brown with an off-white head. Aroma of roasted malt and brown sugar. Rather solid body, a little low in carbonation but a huge, roasted maltiness as well as notes of overripe fruit and nuts. Basically no bitterness. Excellent. 030608

larsga (6213) - Oslo, NORWAY - MAY 14, 2008
Big offwhite head does not last. Deep reddish amber body. Roasty salmiak licorice aroma with peppery notes. Dry roasty straw and licorice taste. Starts off a bit acidic and neutral, then develops. Bitter papery aftertaste. It’s all right. (0.5l bottle, souvenir shop, Goslar.)
