Cask at the Redan W2. Pale gold coloured bitter. Very pleasant hop bitterness, hints of grapefruit and other citrus. Slips down very easily. A good example of this style.

Cask; amber-gold, thin white head; malty and very bitter; this has way too much of an alcoholic grapefruit juice feel to it to be enjoyable; a disappointment.

On tap. Frothy golden pour, meh. Mild hop aroma. Generally smooth hop taste with a dissipating finish. Grass and floral notes. Bready. Nothing too of note here...

UPDATED: MAR 25, 2013 Cask at the Bulls Head, Barston, Solihull. Clear amber pour with a big frothy head, typical of an English bitter. The hops are very evident in the aroma which isnít overpowering. For me, this beer is as close as you can get to the perfect English pint. The bitterness is refreshing, smooth and well handled. It sits nicely on the palate just to remind you itís still there for just the right period of time. At 4.7% itís the right ABV to qualify as a great session ale and good for hot summer days or cold winter nights. Itís well-kept ales like this that make me miss my homeland more than is good for me and hastens my eventual return. I only wished that Purity would expand their small range of excellent ales.

Dry hop bitterness with hints of grapefruit, pine needles and citrus. Great balance, enjoyable session beer. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

On tap @ the Haymarket. Pours golden with a slight haze and a nicely proportioned head. The nose has grapefruit and pine. The taste is just wall to wall grapefruit. The palate is medium bodied and creamily textured with a tangy fresh finish. Overall, the grapefruit aspect is a little one-dimensional but itís well executed.

Handpull at The Eagle (Shepherdess Walk). Clear gold with average white frothy head. Smells and tastes like citrus zest, floral bitterness and cereal non-sweetness. Solid body, astringent and solidly carbonated. Pretty good!!

On cask at the Haymarket. Pours a light golden colour with a thick white head. Aroma of biscuity malt, barley and yeast. Similar flavours, quite grainy overall. Mildly dry and bitter with moderate carbonation and a creamy mouth-feel. Nice.
