Cask handpump at The Bricklayers, Colchester. Light golden colour, slightly off white head. Citrusy, very smooth and easy drinking. Palate probably the high point. Overall didnít really enjoy this much - I recall having enjoyed it more bottled before, which is unusual.

UPDATED: FEB 18, 2013 Cask version - superbly smooth golden ale, very nice in the palate, it matters little that the aroma and taste is low.

As Joseph Stalin once said, "Once the boy is labelled a diver, thereís little to be done". Iíd go one further and shoot the ignorant peasants but Joey always was a moderate sort and from him we must learn.

Pint in the Almanack, Leicester. Tasted pretty damn good. Bitter and hoppy but perhaps not quite deserving of midlands best beer?

3.7 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Cask conditioned at The Black Sheep, Dublin. Beautiful hazy gold with big, lasting white head and plenty of thick lacing. Aroma is citrus (grapefruit especially), touch of tangerine, lovely pale malts too. Taste is exactly as you'd want a session golden ale to be - beautiful pale malt character - full of biscuity notes, grapefruit, lemon, grassy hop notes, touch of spice. Mouthfeel medium/light. Aftertaste brief but with a lovely tingle of citrus zest. You could literally drink this from dawn to dusk. And then session on it throughout the night as well. Delicious.

Bottle from Connollyís wines, Solihull. Poured a crystal clear light amber with a broken white head. The aroma is of toffee and it just hits you the moment you smell it. The flavour is medium bitter, with a hint of grapefruit, slightly floral and with a smooth palate. This really is a lovely and very drinkable session beer. One thing that annoys me about Purity above anything else is that they only brew their three regular beers and no specials. Their standard ales are so good that itís sad they donít give us something special to look forward to every once in a while. Iíd love to see what they were capable of.
