Tasted this in Tennents Bar, Glasgow on 8th September 2014. Cask, handpump dispense. Clear pale copper in colour with a thin white creamy head. Slight note of sweet caramel on the nose. Thin resiny mouthfeel and good lacing. Mixed malts deliver a digestive biscuit base with hints of light toffee and syrupy prunes. There is a distinct spicy black pepper flavour evident in the short bitter aftertaste. Finish is malty with dry vinous notes present in the palate. Not what I was expecting from the pump clip and pleasantly surprised as this is a excellent session Amber Ale with Autumnal overtones all the way through.

Bottle from Sainsburys in Folkstone. Pours out in a amber colour with low steady head and medium to crisp body. Wonderful aroma of fresh hops, pine and herbs. Taste of fresh hops, thyme, light malt, grass, citrus fruits, grapefruit and flowers. Hints of barley. Refreshing with a moderate bitterness. Very good beer.

Served on tap in a pint glass. Pours a reddish flat liquid with a quickly disappearing bubbly head. Mouthfeel is so watery and taste is just too subdued. Not really a redeemable point however, it appeared to be the best on offer at the time.

Bottle. An almost clear one, dark golden to copper in color and with a small, dense, beige head on top. Toffee-ish malts, grassy and piney hops and some cheesy hints in the aroma. The flavor has the same toffee-ish malts, with some faint bready hints. Grass, pine cones and some bitterness in the flavor. Full to medium body and a pleasant soft carbonation level. It finishes more or less as the initial flavor, but more on the bitter side. Quite decent, but far from worth a celebration. 140816
