3.4 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Clear, medium copper body with a nice, creamy, long-lived, off-white head that laces the glass excellently. Moderate aroma that is sweet, it’s moderate malty and light hoppy, with notes of sweet caramel, citrus and a generic fruity feel. Quite strong flavours that surprises me a bit, this is more tasty than I’d dared to hope for! Caramel, burnt sugar, fruit and grapefruit in the light bitter and rather long-lasting finish. The initial taste is moderate to light sweet. Crisp and light body, quite dry and bordering on watery. A very nice beer for such a low ABV, and exceptionally nice for the style!

Boittle from Waitrose. Clear ruby body with a thin white head. Light carbonation. Faint lacing. Weak aroma of stewed tea. Flavour of bread, biscuit, tea and a light fruity note. Thin body with a watery, slightly oily texture. Soft fizz. No real depth of flavour but very drinkable.

Deserves higher score. Lovely amber ale. They call these bitters but it’s the wrong word! Not bitter at all, smooth, sweet, real ale!
