500 ml bottle bought at Market Place by Jasons in K-11, Tsim Sha Tsui.

Clear deep amber colour; Two and a quarter finger head and crumpety off-white foam which lasts for 3 minutes; Beautiful sticky lacing and fizzy carbonation; Quite fragrant aroma of rich Amber malt, with strong caramel, light toffee, cherries, light red fruits, molasses, bread, yeast and very light grass; Close to light sweet taste of Amber malt, with metallic, strong caramel, toast, tartnes, very light red fruits, light molasses, light bread, lemon, light bitter hops and light grass; Mid to light body, slightly slick palate; Mouth feel is fairly good maltyness in a thin background with good, strong Amber caramel characters. Wheaty tartness is evident. Light red fruits and light toffee with moderate sweetness. Slightly bready and good lemon to round. Simple but pretty good!... Hoppiness is very light grass in nose. Strong lemon and light grass in taste. Bitterness is moderate to light for a lasting, fair astringent malty finish; Dry after taste. Lemony and fairly bitter to mouth.

Comments: This one’s a solid if not too spectacular Bitter, with nice looks, fair but malty backbone, slightly fruity, and notable citrusy hoppiness when it counts. Straight forward and well-made. Nice for the style but a bit too expensive. Drinkable.

Clear reddish brown with moderate head dissipating quickly. Malty aroma. Taste begins sweet and malty but ends up a bit bitter (the Cascade hops are prominent), with a floral aftertaste. Not distinctive, but not bad.

Cask right after a nice big English breakfast. Clear copper to amber color, small to average sized beige head. Aroma is lightly malts, lightly hops and a bit floral. Taste malts, nice lightly sweetish floral hops again, softly bitter. Soft mouthfeel, average body. Quite pleasant at 10.30 in the morning.

Cask at The Green Dragon, Leek (JDW) A clear amber colour with a frothy white head. Aroma of caramel, some nuts, subtle cherry and slight pine. Taste of caramel, some nuts, slight resin, subtle cherries, red berries, a little toast and earthy hops. Light bodied and soft carbonation. A sweetish, caramel, fruity finish with a soft earthy bitterness. The cascade hops come through the malty base well but it’s still only average overall. Little thin too.
