3.6 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20 jmgreenuk (1271) - The Hague, - MAY 11, 2012Cask at many pubs in the Midlands. This is one of my favourite ales and thankfully it's widely available in my part of the world. It's a lovely amber pour, decent head, but surprisingly little lacing. Light aroma, nicely hoppy palate and oh so smooth. It goes down so well. UBU drinkers can easily be spotted by the smile on their face. That's no surprise!

Cracking beer, a well balanced best bitter with an appealing sweet taste but well balanced with malt and bitterness. Check it out.

3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20 ACD (335) - Dublin, IRELAND - APR 12, 2013
Cask conditioned at The Porterhouse, Temple Bar. Hazy amber/brown with thin off white head. Aroma is muted with some caramel, earthy spice, and stewed fruit. Taste gives a lot of caramel, touches of red berry, herbal earthy notes, and a touch of citric hop bite. Medium mouthfeel. Not bad, fairly well-balanced and easy going.

500 ml bottle pours a dark reddish, amber colour with a small off white head. The aroma is caramel with some floral hops and this taste likewise with perhaps some citrus. A very good amber ale.

Enjoyed from cask at Wenlock & Essex in Islington borough after a long work day. This was just what I needed. I didn’t take notes as I was eating a nice meal, but I remember this being fantastic with a nice, hoppy aroma. Ok, that’s my review!

We want 8, we want 8. Although, it’s not looking likely. Interesting day, I’ve had fun but I’m a little miffed as well. That’s family for you. I’ve certainly put a dent in their booze cupboard. The only thing with purity round here is the pure alcohol that I’m pissing. I’m a delightful soul...
