4.3 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20
A beautiful bright amber appearance with a lovely fruity nose. An initial red berry fruit flavour is followed by a butterscotch middle and a superb long caramel malt finish balanced out with a nice hop background. A great traditiional british ale with a great appearance and branding. Lets get some younger people drinking cask ales!!

Cask at the Swan, Broadway. Chestnut with a thick cream-coloured head. Good rich mouthfeel. Toffee flavours with orange and a little earthy bitterness. Top-notch traditional-ish bitter. Lovely. Purity really are very good.

3.4 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
UPDATED: MAY 17, 2016 One of the better bitters I have had from cask. Flat palate as expected from cask, but a nice taste and very little aroma to be detected. Is the name also a Pere Ubu reference by chance?

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
500 ml bottle bought at Market Place by Jasons in K-11, Tsim Sha Tsui.
Clear deep amber colour; Two and a quarter finger head and crumpety off-white foam which lasts for 3 minutes; Beautiful sticky lacing and fizzy carbonation; Quite fragrant aroma of rich Amber malt, with strong caramel, light toffee, cherries, light red fruits, molasses, bread, yeast and very light grass; Close to light sweet taste of Amber malt, with metallic, strong caramel, toast, tartnes, very light red fruits, light molasses, light bread, lemon, light bitter hops and light grass; Mid to light body, slightly slick palate; Mouth feel is fairly good maltyness in a thin background with good, strong Amber caramel characters. Wheaty tartness is evident. Light red fruits and light toffee with moderate sweetness. Slightly bready and good lemon to round. Simple but pretty good!...
Hoppiness is very light grass in nose. Strong lemon and light grass in taste. Bitterness is moderate to light for a lasting, fair astringent malty finish; Dry after taste. Lemony and fairly bitter to mouth.
Comments: This one’s a solid if not too spectacular Bitter, with nice looks, fair but malty backbone, slightly fruity, and notable citrusy hoppiness when it counts. Straight forward and well-made. Nice for the style but a bit too expensive. Drinkable.
