A beautiful bright amber appearance with a lovely fruity nose. An initial red berry fruit flavour is followed by a butterscotch middle and a superb long caramel malt finish balanced out with a nice hop background. A great traditiional british ale with a great appearance and branding. Lets get some younger people drinking cask ales!!

500ml bottle from Sainsbury's. Poured clear. Rich amber in colour with a large, long lasting frothy white head. Good lacing throughout consumption. Malty, subtly spiced aroma. Floral and rich, sweet caramel flavours with a hoppy, malty, bitter taste developing.

Cask from The White Lion, Disley, Cheshire, £3.10/pint. Dark amber/brown beer with thick, off-white head that last the full pint down. Pretty dull bitter. Opens with hoppiness, closes with some sweet, caramel. Some roasty malts but pretty tame. Won’t bother again.

Dark amber colored beer with medium head. Some citruses in aroma. A bit roasty. Medium body, smooth texture. Meh.

On cask, poured into a nonic. The aroma is very mellow and muted with light notes of citrus and resin. The beer pours an oily, deep caramel colored hue with an off-white, fluffy foam head that retains well and leaves a good, fluffy lace. The taste is a blend of medium sweet and medium light bitter. The texture is oily and slick with a flat, smooth carbonation, and a medium light body. Caramel, nuts, and tangerines compose the flavor profile with a smooth finish with mostly flavors of caramel and orange. The aftertaste is sticky and waxy with a citrus and bread crust quality.

Cask at the Spaniards NW3. Amber brown colour, bright, thin white head. Solid well balanced ale with a malty bias, nutty and some toffee, decent bitterness. Very drinkable.

Cask Bidford - dark copper with small white head which disappears leaving a thin cover round rim. No carbonation and little aroma. Ok mouth / tongue. Taste fruity but thin. Easy drinking.

Liking this a lot. Hadn’t expected to as I’m hardly a bitter fan really but there’s a crispness to it that really slips down well. 8/10.
