DruncanVeasey (1533), Burbage, Croatia May 15, 2008 Gravity, Rugby ’08. Chestnut with tan halo. Floral, blackcurranty aroma with grapefruit hints. Earthy, blackcurranty fruit, fibrous hops (America?). Some lurking roasted barley bitterness. Tasty. Not a porter.
hughie (2059), Bedford, Bedfordshire, England Jul 12, 2008 Cask, gravity, at Derby Festival ’08. Dark brown with a white head. Ashy aroma (’Eggy,’ said DeepBlack correctly). Sour ashy taste, quite bitter at the finish. A rough, tough ale that teeters on the verge of brutality. (You can only come up with a verdict like that when it’s your twelfth beer of the festival). weaselkenievil (295), Cheshire, England Jul 5, 2008 Porthmadog, a beautiful place that I love. Home of Port Merrion where ’The Prisoner’ was filmed. Which is fucking mint too. Cask at Macclesfield Beer Festival. Dark brown, hint of amber in the colour, thin off white head. Not much smell again to me but my beak is fucked. Malty, chocolate, slight coffe and caramel. Reasonable but not as nice as I’d like to say it is. dEM1972 (40), , Czech Republic Jul 5, 2008 Dark brown, they call it ’deep ruby’; dark roasted hop smell, somewhat sweet vapours come from it; deep, rich bitter taste, rich after taste; light fizz, deliciously rich body renffisch (384), london, Greater London, England Jul 4, 2008 cask @ kingston bf 08. strong, fresh liquorice nose with nettles and aniseed. dark chestnut in colour, big bubbled head. very odd tasting stuff. quite roasty with hints of coffee to start with, some strange herbal sensation in the middle and a very dry tart bitter finish. odd, but very drinkable.
