Cask/gravity at the 2011 Ealing beer festival. Red-brown with a medium white head, orange and fresh-cut grass on the nose, body has some malt and an astringent bitterness. Finish has burnt marmalade. Nice, but lacking depth.

Cask-conditioned at the Three Tins, Bristol 23/11/10. Deep amber with a slight, off-white head. Sweetish, caramel and berry fruit aroma with a touch of roasted malt. Flavour was similarly sweet, with red fruits and a decent, bitter finish. Good.

@ Raven, Bath. Bright orangey-amber. The aroma is a bit toasty with some chocolate accents. Decent bitterness, toast, light chocolate. The flavour is a bit heavy for such a light beer.

Cask @ Raven, Bath (coastal beer fest). Red-copper with thick sudsy head and nice lace. Strong raisin and blackcurrant aromas. Raisin and raisin bread flavors with a hoppy, herbal aftertaste on the back of the tongue. Sessionable.

Cask - The Duke of Wellington, Norwich. Poured copper/amber with a loose but lasting bubbly off-white head. Sweet malty fruits, peach and orange. OK on the tongue, a touch soapy, a toasty bitterness, some fruit and a light tang. Medium body, low-medium carbonation with a medium length, dry finish.

Quite a good beer, nice brown colour, pleasant aroma, nice aftertaste and palate, nothing really special, but good at what it does

DruncanVeasey (6179) - NUNEATON, Blue Square Premier, Warwickshire, ENGLAND - FEB 27, 2010
Bottle from Conwy Fine Wines, Conwy. Filtered but unpasteurised? Rusted gold with a receding white halo. Quite an attractive hay and pecan aroma once it’s warmed up; soft and insipid with watery grass, caramel and orange hints. Completely bog standard like a pasteurised GK, Marstons or Batemans effort, just a notch more body. Something of a disappointment.

Pours amber/light brown, with a good, sticky, off-white head. The nose is an even balance of light hops and bready malts. More of the same in the mouth, though hops are more prominent. This is a classic session bitter, nothing special, but there is something to be said for a good example of a classic brew. Sometimes all you need is something standard and refreshing to relax with...
