On cask at Frisco: pours a mostly still dark golden orange with a few stray off-white bubbles. Has a lightly sweet nose with fresh citrusy hops and subtle vanilla oak. Starts with good fullness and light carbonation with lightly toasted malty sweetness and lots of resiny hop flavor and bitterness giving way to lingering bourbon oak in the bittersweet finish. I’ll admit I wasn’t expecting much with the combination of IPA and bourbon, but it was fairly well-balanced. I’m still not a huge fan of this combo, but it’d be tough to make a bourbon-aged IPA much better.
