RAYBOY01 (1757), Chicago, Illinois, USA Mar 23, 2006 Not a particularly pleasant experiment, but on the other hand, not a complete failure either. Nice robust wheat pour with a huge billowing head, though quickly fading. Overly sweet nose, all sticky apricot, completely overpowering the wheat. Flavor likewise seems cloyingly sweet and sticky, but every once in a great while, I found myself momentarily finding the "oddness" refreshing in some sick kind of way...more than wishful thinking could have explained, I think. I thought this might have been drinkable on a particularly hot day after working all day out in the sun. But it really is far too syrupy for everyday drinkability. I couldn’t help but notice that Frankenkitty has once again decided to use these ratings as a devious means to try and distract me on my obvious and inevitable victory in our undeclared race to 1000. In his rating for Belzebuth, which he obviously paid someone to translate into French for him, he inserted a cheap, uncalled for, and insulting reference to me. You went to all that time, expense, and trouble to make fun of me in a language that I don’t understand. Well, as always, the joke is on you, Joe! I didn’t understand when you were making fun of me in English! .... So who looks foolish now?
meisterbrauMHB (50), Waukesha, Wisconsin, USA Jul 3, 2009 Poured a hazy golden color with little head and minimal lacing. Sweet apricot flavor took a little time to develop on the palate. Finished slightly bitter. Overall good, but not as great as other fruit beers. lithy (1187), Knoxville, Tennessee, USA Jul 1, 2009 Pale orange-brown with a thin white head. Huge apricot aroma. Lightly wheaty, taste is big apricot, feels artificial. ewestern (163), Ohio, USA Jun 28, 2009 Pours clear golden with an off white head that actually leaves some lacing as you drink. Aroma is sweet and slightly tart. While the apricot flavor in this beer dominates, the wheat plays a nice secondary role adding more character and some depth. Carbonation level is some what high and there is a tartness in the finish but its not bad, just not good either. Overall the beer is nice on a warm night after mowing the lawn. rader58 (110), Leawood, Kansas, USA Jun 25, 2009 Pours a cloudy golden color. Aroma of apricot and peach. Strong Apricot flavor. Not too bad, but slightly overwhelming. TcTango (48), Tyler, Texas, USA Jun 24, 2009 Bottle. Poured a beautiful orange/copper color with fizzy white head. Lots of aroma or apricots and citrus. Very refreshing. If you can find it, buy it! greig (119), Hamilton, New Zealand Jun 16, 2009 I can’t say I’m a fan of this. It reminds me of shampoo! The wheat adds a nice smooth character, but the carbonation is quite high, and strips the smoothness away again. The apricot flavour tastes syrupy and fake, though I understand real apricots are used. This beer has travelled a long way, so maybe that’s why. Either way, it’s the second letdown I’ve had from Pyramid. I won’t be seeking them out again, though if I make it to the USA, I will try them on tap in Oregon to be fair. Vertical Bacon Strips (581), Edmonton, Alberta, Canada Jun 14, 2009 Poured out a large foamy white cap that faded too quick to nothing more than a ring. Brew was a cloudy orange. Aroma is quite fragrant with lots of nice apricot (not fake or oversweet which really makes this enjoyable), wheat and yeast. Taste is of apricots, wheat, malt and a sourness. Lame description but that’s really it. Damn good to drink though. Great in the heat. Mouthfeel is excellent - smooth, great carbonation and a great lengthy tart/dry finish. During the very last sip I swear there were hops that I could notice. Ughsmash (3670), Waukesha, Wisconsin, USA Jun 14, 2009 Bottled as "Audacious Apricot Ale". Poured hazy medium golden with a short, but well-retained cap of white head. The aroma was all about the juicy apricots with accents of wheat and lemon zest.. some pale and lesser caramelly malts supported. The flavor had apricot pits and some meat with a little bit of tangy wheat.. some sticky fruit and malts on the finish.. aiight. Lighter-bodied and tangy on the palate with decent balance.. quite refreshing.
