Bottle:   Deep reddish caramel, moderate tannish head, frothy, little lacing.   Rich bready nose, musty caramel, not too hoppy.   Doesn’t seem too sweet, moreso a figgy/bready example... and a little rough/young at that.   Whats funny is I tried looking up the 5000 Year example they did years ago... not on RB.   I had that years after it was done, and it was very sublime.   I can’t help but wonder if this is the same beer yet just a young/juevenile example.   A little biting, body and mouthfeel are moderate.   Could stand to let sit for a bit before drinking.   Not too hoppy or overly malty, but instead just a sense of green and alcohol.   Needs some time to develop.   I have one bottle left that maybe I will let sit for 5 years.   Not bad, but very green!

Bottled from BevMo. Dark prunish in color. Nose is somewhat sweet. A lot of dark fruit and a hint of tobacco. Flavor is dominated by dark fruit. Some maltiness with a bit of sugary sweetness. Some hops are present in the finish, as well as some mild alcohol.

Sample at the Seattle brewpub. Dark copper-amber color with a medium light beige head that dissipates slowly. Small patches of lacing on the glass. The aroma is malty with some dark fruit notes. Full-bodied with a rich caramel malt character and flavors of hops and ripe fruit. The finish is sweet with up front and leaves a piney hops aftertaste. Above average overall.

12-oz. bottle into a pint glass at my house on Sept. 9, 2012 (purchased at Vons in Mission Gorge (San Diego, Calif.) for a variety 12-pack price of $14.99 on Sept. 9, 2012). Finger of head. Reddish black, almost purple with khaki, gray head. Good retention all around that appeared khaki tan. Smelled liquor, Captain Morgan, rum, dark cherry, vodka, raspberry and wine. Tasted dark fruits, light chocolate, cherry, black cherry. Very smooth. Medium body. Slick texture. Average carbonation. Long, smooth, warming finish. Felt so good. Really liked this beer, especially as it went on. Grew on me a lot. Definitely better than the Uinta Anniversary Barleywine I had the night before.

This nailed the aroma but was a bit flat in the appearance. The flavor was a good sticky sweet with the right heft to the body, but was unfortunately just a bit too obvious in the alcohol for me. Surprised. in a good way.

Bottle; part of the fall variety pack.

Dark heavy barleywine, alcohol rather forward, malts somewhat overpowering the nugget and centennial hops.

UPDATED: SEP 1, 2012 From a growler. Pours a medium brown color with a medium white head that leaves light lacing. Smells of dark malt and raisins. Tastes of cinnamon, molasses, raisins, then toffee in the back end. You can definitely taste the ance on this one. Mouthfeel is medium and semi creamy, with medium carbonation. Overall I think this was decent but just an average barleywine.

Another new beer from Pyramid only available in their fall variety pack. Rich malt aroma with a dark brown pour and lots of medium white head. The first taste is of malt (molasses) and lots of alcohol followed by a rich brown sugar with some toffee and a lingering sweetness that stays for quite some time. Needs more hops to balance the high alcohol/malt.
