UPDATED: APR 5, 2008 Bottle. Head is initially small, fizzy/frothy, white, mostly diminishing. Body is hazy dark yellow, bottle conditioned. Aroma is lightly malty (toasted grain, husks), lightly hoppy (flowers), lightly yeasty (basement), with a note of detergent. Flavor is moderately sweet, lightly acidic, lightly bitter. Finish is lightly to moderately sweet, lightly acidic, lightly to moderately bitter, husky. Medium body, watery/syrupy texture, lively carbonation. Grainy, soapy, almost swill-like.

2.1 AROMA 2/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 9/20
UPDATED: MAY 20, 2003 Hmmm. I expected a hefe out of this one and got little more than overpriced Budwiser. This seemed to lack the distinct sharpness of traditional German hefeweizen. Kinda tastes like sweat in a bottle, if you ask me. This has to be one of Pyramid's worst. Flavor is bland, and lacking. Aftertaste is malty, but sour. If there was such a thing as a light hefe, then this might be it. I'll stick to Hacker-Pschorr or Paulner- how hefeweizen should taste.

Boring. Nothing distinguishing or especially memorable. Uni-dimensional hoppiness.

UPDATED: MAY 2, 2004 Light cloudiness; deep yellowish, gold-orange. Thin, fading head. Lively carbonation; thin and light texture. Couldn't really find the typical banana and clove. More like an "American Wheat" than a Hefeweizen. Light malts, slightly sticky. Mild bitterness (herbal). Finished dry on the tongue and cloying in the throat. Pinch of citrus, but falls short. Kind of bland and boring.

Upon pouring this beer into a glass, it resembles a hefeweizen, but maybe slightly darker. It has a nice head with very thin bubbles, almost like the beer was carbonated and then bottled with yeast. In fact, it did give quite a snap when I removed the cap. The head lasted very well and left some nice lace on the glass. The aroma is not very reminiscent of a wheat beer. It smeels pretty much like an American Lager with a hint of citrus. The taste is a tad on the sour side, and I concur with several others that there is a definite lemon sourness

2 AROMA 3/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 7/20
This bottled brew poured a small head of fine to medium sized mostly lasting bubbles that left behind a fair lacing. The body wassoftly carbonated semi-hazy and light brown in color. The aroma was mild and off the mark for a good hefe-weizen more doughy and missing the fruity notes like banana. The mouth feel was tingly and smooth with a dry finish. The flavor was doughy and malty with a touch of yeastyness.

This beer pours with a little head and a nappy orange yellow color. Slightly cloudy. Aroma is indistinct. Taste is very bland. Crisp and smooth but boring. Aftertaste is actually skunky and bad. not recommended at all.

2 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 1/5 OVERALL 9/20
Hefe in name only, no estery goodness in the nose, no huge clovey and banana notes. This is a bland, wheaty, crackery tasting ale with no real attributes to write about. Somewhat hazy in the glass.

I did not have my trusty lemon wedge and Weisbier glass while I was vacationing in California so the rating for this Wheat beer would be lower than others. Maybe I’ll try it again someday.
