MontereyJimbo (79), Monterey, California, USA Oct 6, 2007 Are you kidding me? This heinous orange concoction states it is brewed from a "Bavarian-inspired recipe." Yeah, maybe a recipe for saurkraut but not for a wheat beer. Unfortunately I can’t find a domestic wheat beer fit to kiss the posterior of any Bavarian weizenbier and that’s a shame because I want to buy American.
DrnkMcDermott (1596), Downers Grove, Illinois, USA Nov 29, 2008 Soft German weizen smell, no esters, just a bit of skunk, bottle may be old. Pours a darker, hazy yellow than most hefes, too. Taste is rather a hybrid of German and American wheats: soft spiciness, but no clove or banana taste. Well, it’s one of Pyramid more widely sold beers, so one could expect it to be a little more broad in mass appeal. But still, it’s a very good light beer to keep around.
cbeers21 (456), Miami, Florida, USA Oct 25, 2008 Ok looking but no booming head I like with the style. Decent banana clovey notes but quieted by light cereal breadiness. No real depth in flavor, as this brew never really evolved in any direction. Quenching, but lacks what I expect in a good hefe. TheSponge (171), Lynnwood, Washington, USA Oct 19, 2008 12 oz. bottle. Pours a cloudy orange/yellow color. Flavor: Citrus and wheat. This is one of my favorite hefeweizens. wheelz843 (120), Grand Rapids, Michigan, USA Oct 18, 2008 bottle. has a aroma of wheat and citrus. light straw yellow with little head. bit of a metallic taste with not much on the end. ok overall. brew4fun (137), West Virginia, USA Oct 13, 2008 Cloudy golden, thin diminishing head, releasing spicy aroma of yeast, wheat. Flavor of crisp wheat and spicy hops. Smooth, mildly bitter with a clean, dry finish. Refreshing brew.
