12 oz bottle from the winter variety pack bought at Super 1 in CDA, ID. Pours dark dark brown to black with red highlights; has a medium collapsing beige head. Aroma consists of dough, bread, caramel, clove, licorice, coffee. Taste is a little sweet, but itís more sour (I doubt this is intentional); finishes dry and bitter. Thereís a little chocolate flavor in here. Oveall, itís not too bad, but itís pretty strange. The off-flavors arenít off-putting, theyíre just a little distracting.

Poured from 12 oz bottle into nonic glass. Appearance: pours a 3/4" cream colored head that recedes leaving light lacing. Color is a dark reddish brown that is nearly opaque. Some streaming carbonation is detectable despite the dark color. Aroma: roasty malt, caramel, toast, a bit of herbal hops and some vanilla. Mouthfeel: medium bodied and fizzy, somewhat sticky with a drying finish. Flavor: nice combination of dark roasted malts, creamy oats, some vanilla and caramel with some earthy and herbal hops. Overall: well done oatmeal stout and appropriate to the style.

Sampled in a mix pack at Costco. A nice stout that is very clean and smooth on the palate. The flavor was not quite what you would want and IBUs are quite low.

Great chocolate and coffee nose with a rich mahogany color. Typical solid oatmeal stout flavors. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

From bottle to wine glass. Chocolate and roast aroma. Black with a taupe head that lingers. Taste is mostly roast with slight chocolate background. Slight silkiness from the oats. Not bad.

Chocolate, roast and bread aromas. Pours a near black with a mocha colored head and great lacing. Chocolate, espresso smooth, lager like quality makes it very drinkable.

Bottle:   Deep brown, nearly black, large pillowy tannish head, fairly nice lacing.   Pale sweet roasted malt nose.   Faint apple or pear skin.   Smooth on the tongue, soft, pale roasted malts, moderate sweetness, a touch of sweetness.   Very little bitterness, to be expected.   As it warms the apple and pear skin seem to become more apparent.   Moderate body and mouthfeel.   Finishes with some soft pale fruitiness, semi-sweet, mild roasted malts, and a touch of campfire or charred wood.   A very pale example, little hops, perhaps a bit more fruity than most.   Not bad, but very pedestrian.   Nothing wrong about it, other than perhaps its not as big as others.   Still enjoyable for what it is.

Not a bad stout. A friend grabbed a growler of this and brought it to a BBQ the other day. I didnít expect too much from Pyramid, but was pleasantly surprised.
