BottleA: Dark caramel color. Off-white head. N : Pine, toast, cinnamon, nutmeg, earthiness. Nutty. T: Very bitter. Good sweetness, but too many hops.Metallic aftertaste. M: Medium/light body. Fuzzy carb.O: Another mediocre rendition of a classic style. Not as bad as Leinie?s, still not good.

Presentation: It was poured from a brown 12 oz bottle into a Samuel Adams tasting glass. The label lists the abv at 6.7%. Smell: The aroma has notes of light grain, fresh bread and light caramel like sweetness. Taste / Palate: It has a nice mild bready and caramel maltiness up front and mild dry leafy hops with a slight earthy character in the finish.

"Nice lookin rich amber color. Bready caramel with a hint of nuts and spice on the nose. Palate is smooth and goes well with the malty favors and hint of hop bitterness in the semi-sweet finish. "

Poured a hazy dark amber with a nice creamy head from a recently purchased 22 oz bottle. My first taste was surprisingly refreshing with some sweet notes to the finish. As with most Pyramid products, the value is the overlying factor as many of their 22 oz . products can be purchased for well under the $3 mark. I drink many of their beers as an ’everyday’ craft brew without spending too much money on them. I would pick this one up again.

Deep mahogany colored with cream/light tan head that is very fine and creamy. Clings to glass. Malty and some hops on the nose with a little dark fruit. Full hops with bitterness up front followed by malty, smoky, sweetish finish. A little too long of a bitter finish. A little thinner mouth feel than expected with such a dark color.

January 7th, 2013 - Putting pen to paper, I still have a hard time identifying differences between Oktoberfest brews, let alone what makes one better or another. But first impressions count for a lot, and my first impression of Pyramid’s Oktoberfest in a tasting vacuum is that it is "fine", and certain something you can bring to a holiday party. The smell has mild malt notes, but not too sweet, with touches of old cinnamon (the kind you dredge out of the spice drawer for that once-a-year use) and old chocolate bar (similarly, the kind re-discovered in the back of the candy drawer.) The flavor is sweeter...very sweet indeed. Brown sugar, that old cinnamon touch, a pronounced hoppy bitterness in the background, and that deep, sugary grape sweetness that often makes this beers a little too sweet for me. Know a reveler with a hankering for sugar? This’ll please. Otherwise? I’ll look for something more restrained.

Bottle. Nose is definitely malt dominant, with a lot of toasting and nuttiness in there and just a bit of some sweeter candy. Taste is only slightly sweet and has a lot of toasting elements. Nicely balanced. Solid brew.

Nice. Very milky. Solid malt character. A surprising bit of hops towards the end. Wouldn’t mind more malts and less hops, but this is good.
