COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Ignition Series #2
Outburst Imperial IPA is a high-impact workout for the senses. A crafty combination of four different hops, and a dose of dry hopping, powers Outburst to 80 IBU strong. Its bold profile offers an aroma reminiscent of the Northwest hop fields at harvest time, along with spicy overtones of fresh citrus. Seeking a harmonious balance to the hop overload, we’ve blended four different specialty malts to create a distinctive deep amber hue and sweet caramel and roasty flavors.

Draft at special brews. Pours a crystal clear medium amber with a gorgeous dense and creamy tannish head. Mild otange peel nose. Creamy medium body with lively carb. Hugely acidic mid palate with pithy bite. Mild caramel undertones. Out of balance.

Bottled into a pint glass. I’ll drink this any day over any 60 or 90 overpriced IPA. Very well balanced hops and malt with citrus finish. Plus it’s like a scavenger hunt finding this stuff outside a variety pack this year. Hoppy IPA hunting to all, WOO HOOOO!

Nice clear copper color on this one. This is obviously dry hopped to the moon because the aroma is big citrus pine and alcohol. Flavor is much less fruity than the aroma. Mainly piney resinous hops with some florals. Malt character is a bit cloying for me and it lasts into the sweet finish. Decent, especially from Pyramid.

Sampled at Tap and Mallet. Clear amber-dark orange in color with a very short head. Decent retention and lacing. Aroma is sweet oranges, light pine, and caramel. Very sweet, light bitter flavor. The malt gives it a Medium body. Average carbonatin and a bitter finish.

Clean copper amber pour, one finger of off white head. Nose is rich and resinous, candid apricot and rich malt. Very citrusy and resinous, lots of oily hop character. Good body and medium bitterness.

Big aroma of citrus pops out of the glass. Taste is a mix of citrus and pine hops, and moderate caramel malts. A bit of mango and sweet resiny malt comes through as well. It carries an assertive bitterness through the finish, but it is still balanced for a double IPA.

Bottle from Rite Aid: Created a thick soapy lather of foam head while a dense brass colored liquid rested below. As for the aroma, a mild nose of honey, wheat bread, oat while a touch of grapefruit citrus comes through. The flavor brings out more of the bitter hops and taste of a waxy lemon peel, grapefruit juice, and a soft malt profile in backing it all up. Decent impy IPA considering it was brewed by Pyramid.

Crystal amber body with a thin, filmy, silken, ever-so-slightly off-white head. Citrus and pine burst from the glass. Gentle peach fuzz breezes tempt the nose. Pineapple mixed with a pleasant tropical and forest medley joins the bouquet as well. Fruity, tropical body. Tangerine, citrus, and some pineapple. Soft underpinning of pine. Juicy body and yet moderately bitter-sour, dry and piny finish. While there is definitely a bitter component to this beer, it is on the whole, juicy sweet.

Poured from a bottle into a pint glass. The color was a nice looking combination of honey and caramel. About two fingers of head. Decent amount of lacing on the top that was uneven with tiny bubbles. Some sporadic film on the sides. Really liked the overall look. Could smell the fruity citrus hops right away. Peach is what seemed to come through first, but they hops still gave it a balanced feel. Sweet but hoppy. Not as much as the smell as I would have liked. Also not as hoppy, but did have some slightly bitter hops at the end. A little bit of peach and a little bit of grapefruit. Light body. Sticky texture. Average carbonation. Bitter finish. Not a bad beer. A couple of my ratings could have gone up a half-point or down one. I’d give it another try.

12oz bottle. reddish/orange color with off white head. the aroma is of dry hopped citrus and grass...wonderful aroma and was pleasantly surprised with this one. the head didnt last long and some minimal lacing on the glass. the flavor burst forth with that dry hopped citrus and grassy flavors that linger on your tongue for a bit. still very crisp and clean though. very nice beer.
