COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Ignition Series #2
Outburst Imperial IPA is a high-impact workout for the senses. A crafty combination of four different hops, and a dose of dry hopping, powers Outburst to 80 IBU strong. Its bold profile offers an aroma reminiscent of the Northwest hop fields at harvest time, along with spicy overtones of fresh citrus. Seeking a harmonious balance to the hop overload, we’ve blended four different specialty malts to create a distinctive deep amber hue and sweet caramel and roasty flavors.

Clear reddish color with a half-inch of white head. Aroma is malty and sweet, with light some tangerine notes. Taste is a a bit more pithy, which is balanced out a bit by the sweetness. $2.50/22oz

UPDATED: APR 20, 2014 12 oz Bottle. The beer pours to a medium red/amber color with a small white head. The aroma has a strong resin floral hop smell to it. The taste is a medium body with a slight bitter hop finish. Overall a good DIPA.

On tap at Taco Mac. Mostly clear medium amber with offwhite creamy head. For an ipa, the aroma is more on the malty side; citrusy hops are in the background. Reverse course, when it hits the tongue - lots of juicy hops throughout - piney and then hits you with grapefruit bitterness. Medium body. Cool beer - a lot going on with this one, pretty bitter though.

Lots of carbonation which formed a large head, almost four fingers thick, which filled up almost half the glass despite some careful pouring, and tested my patience greatly. The aroma was quite citric (grapefruit, tangerine) with some floral undertones. The taste continued on the citric theme, with a tart bitterness, and a slightly spicy finish. Very clean malt presence contributed a balancing sweetness, and some tropical fruit flavors. Quite a sticky presence in the mouth, with lots of mouth coating feeling. Aftertaste was spicy and bit boozy. I enjoyed it.

12oz bottle poured into a tumbler. Clear copper hue with a small off white head. Fruity aroma (dried apricots, pomelo), with some resin and alcohol. Juicy malt with lots of caramel flavors, intense hop flavors of bitter citrus peel, spicy and resiny with an alcoholic finish. Med-full body, soft carbonation, rich but alcohol is too noticeable. OK.

12oz tulip glass on tap at the Beer Revolution in Edmonton pours a copper color with a finger of white head that leaves some nice lacing on the glass. Aroma is bold citrus with some grains and caramel. Taste is a grapefruit bitterness with a grainy malt and caramel sweetness. Medium bodied with adequate carbonation. A well crafted and nicely balanced DIPA that is truly enjoyable.

Hazy golden amber with a fast-forming deep, frothy, bubbly head of yellow-white. Aroma is funky caramel clementine pulp hop. Taste is sweet caramel cream into piney hop grapefruit bitter. Nice dynamic contrast between aroma and flavor. Very well-balanced on the palate but fairly a hopfest. A thoughtful beer. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone
