COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Ignition Series #2
Outburst Imperial IPA is a high-impact workout for the senses. A crafty combination of four different hops, and a dose of dry hopping, powers Outburst to 80 IBU strong. Its bold profile offers an aroma reminiscent of the Northwest hop fields at harvest time, along with spicy overtones of fresh citrus. Seeking a harmonious balance to the hop overload, we’ve blended four different specialty malts to create a distinctive deep amber hue and sweet caramel and roasty flavors.

Thanks to iNBe. A rather thirst quenching DIPA. OK, it was hot and I should have chosen a different beer but it was the only one cold and I probably drank the first half of the bottle too quickly. So it was grapefruity too. Rather good, but the serious hop heads will find it a bit mild. I liked it though. Serving: bottle

Pours dirty orange with an initial good bit of frothy head and minimal lacing. Nose is sweet. Flavours are malty almost caramel, some earthy bitterness some light fruit, maybe apricot. Taste medium sweet medium/heavy bitter. Fulling sticky body with lively carbonation.

Malty DIPA, LCBO acquisition. Similar to the tap sample I had last summer, drinkable but unimpressive. Yes this is how it tastes. Orange with some lace.Orange taste, orange aroma.

Bottle from LCBO. Citrus candy aroma. Pouts clear deep amber with an off-white head. Taste of raisin and resin, pine, citrus, and a moderately bitter finish. Full sticky body. Nice.

650 ml bottle from LCBO. Pours a clear orange colour with average-sized cream-coloured head. Aroma is bread, caramel, pine, citrus and other fruit. Flavour is quite well-balanced with bready, caramelly and fruity malt character and resiny, slightly citric hops. Slick mouthfeel. Big body. Impressive.

Outburst may not seem especially noteworthy when compared to some of its legendary contemporaries but you can’t deny that this brew has balls. Nevermind the fact that this beer boasts only 80 IBU’s (only in the hop-crazed world of IPA’s can you say "only 80 IBU’s"). This brew uses some of the most aggressive hop varieties (Centennial, Nugget, Simcoe, Chinook) and creates a flavor that’s plenty crisp and bitter without being brutal. I loved the woodsy, floral note that this IPA brings to the aroma and taste. While not as complex as some of the other hoppy ales, Outburst brings plenty of bravado and masterful balance to the palate.

Bottle. A- Grapefruit, citrus, soapy, piney, floral. A- Amber color, clear liquid, white head. T- Citrus, bitter, piney. P- Medium body, average texture, average carbonation, lingering finish. O- A very lovely aroma with lots of tropical citrus and floral. The taste is the same but the pine and bitterness is more pronounced and you get less of the citrus on the tongue. Overall, this one was a lot smoother and more refreshing than I was expecting it to be.

650 mL bottle. Pours maple syrup with a thick white head of tight bubbles. Nose is surprisingly malt forward with layers of bread, medium caramel, butter toffee and candied orange. Only mild bitterness, with slight pine resin and grapefruit notes. Dense and chewy with moderate to full body and average carbonation. Slick and sticky on the palate. Might pass as an Imperial Amber or Red, but not bitter or hoppy enough to be an IIPA in my books. Not what I expected, but tasty nonetheless, really great malt complexity and drinkability.

Pours a clear amber with a medium white head, and has aroma notes of pine resin, citrus, and malt. Tasting notes include pine, citrus, and a rich malt backbone. The palate is slick, and resinous. This beer is not fresh, but the hops are still packing enough of a punch to make this beer enjoyable.

(bottle) clear deep amber brown colour with a medium tall white head; aroma of stewed fruit, grapefruit; rich and very balanced flavour with a long medium bitter finish; mild for a IIPA but tasty

Smells like butter. Tastes very alcoholic. Strong flavor. Hard on the throat. Bubbly..
