3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Thanks to iNBe. A rather thirst quenching DIPA. OK, it was hot and I should have chosen a different beer but it was the only one cold and I probably drank the first half of the bottle too quickly. So it was grapefruity too. Rather good, but the serious hop heads will find it a bit mild. I liked it though. Serving: bottle

Transfer from BA review on 3-8-13-
Poured from bottle into a snifter
Appearance – The beer pours a very nice orange color with some ruby highlights. Upon pouring there is only a tiny white head that fades almost instantly with very little lacing on the glass.
Smell – The aroma is sweet of tropical fruit aromas. Lots of tangerine mango, papaya and banana are most prominent. Along with these fruit smells are smells of toffee and some bready malt with a lightly boozy aroma rounding them all out.
Taste – The taste begins with a biscuit and light caramel flavor. With these flavors is a moderate grapefruit hop flavor that grows stronger as the taste moves on. While the caramel flavors fade after the initial taste some light tropical flavors of papaya and mango and some tangerine. These flavors are rather light and are soon subdued by a pine hop as well as a slightly boozy taste. A rather bitter and resinous pine and grassy flavor come to the tongue at the end largely taking over the taste to leave their mark on the tongue when all is said and done.
Mouthfeel – The body of the beer is rather average in its thickness and creaminess with a carbonation level that is rather average as well. Ok for the style although a slightly thicker body may have highlighted some of the hop taste more appropriately.
Overall – A moderately good double IPA. The aroma was quite nice although it was a bit deceiving as the taste was more bitter and less fruit balanced as would have been perceived. It does however give a nice hoppy bite to the taste buds at the end of the taste and is rather enjoyable to drink overall.

3.1 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
12oz bottle from Wegman’s, West Seneca, NY. Amber with a ring of white head; aroma of fresh hops and caramel; citrusy taste - perhaps red grapefruit - and quite full-bodied; with a clean spicy finish. A well made IPA.

3.7 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
650ml bottle. Clear copper body, medium beige head with excellent retention. Aroma of wormwood and toffee, orange candies, dust, peppercorn, a little nutty. Taste starts with a nice bitter wave, followed by caramel malt sweetness, grapefruit zest, honey and a tad floral. Good.

3.6 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Bottle: Poured a bright yellow/orangey color ale with a nice thick white foamy head with good retention and some great lacing. Aroma of citrus notes is quite nice with some residual sugar notes noticeable. Taste is also dominated by citrus notes with fresh floral notes that are somewhat offset by too much residual sugar. Body is about average for style with good carbonation and no apparent alcohol. Nice IIPA but I would ay that there is too much residual sugar for my own personal taste.

3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
2014/07/20 - Pours a clear, burnt orange/amber colour with a large, pillowy, off white head that dissipated quickly. Aroma is caramel, roast, tropical fruits, biscuit, mild pine and mild citrus. Taste is caramel, roast, mild citrus, biscuit, spicy hops and mild pine. Mouthfeel is medium and slick with mildly biting carbonation and a sweet finish that starts juicy and finishes dry. Finish was sweeter than I had hoped for.

3.4 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
(650mL bottle from LCBO) Pours a clear medium amber with a moderate, tight white head that lingers and leaves lace. Aroma is heavy on caramel and golden sugar, hops seem restrained/faded with weak pine resin and a hint of orange flesh and something vaguely tropical. On the palate, again malt-forward, bit of caramel and dough, but at least there are relatively more hops than nose; pine resin again along with a little citrus zest, floral notes, slight woodsy/peppery spice too? Fairly bitter and dry on the finish despite the malty character - more like a bitter IPA than a big DIPA though. Moderate alcohol heat for 8ish% abv. Mouthfeel moderate but oily, soft carb. I don’t think this beer is that fresh, but it’s a bit too malt heavy and the hop character is not really punchy or inspiring compared to local DIPAs (ex GLB, Bellwoods). The bar is a lot higher in ON now.

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
Clear amber/orange colour. Muted notes or resin and hoppy pine cones with a caramel backbone. West coast style with upfront hops, hoppy mid palate and hoppy finish but there is some age on this one that is rather disappointing, not to mention the sterile filtered approach which mutes alot of flavours.
